VRS phases??

Featured Replies

Im quite confused as i keep reading posts on a facelift in the Fabia:confused:

the only difference i can see is the colour coded door handles in the 56 onwards!

Is there any differences i have missed??

Also i have a black 04 vrs, what phase is this?

Oh and the engines a lad at my work has a 56 plate VRS and says his is an 04 engine and mines is an 03? is this true? any differences?

Sorry for all the questions,

Jason

Park yours next to your mates. Go to the rear of the car and look at the light cluster.

Eh Voila.

That is one subtle difference.

Next one to be posted by.........

Another notable change is tthat the last updated version has the 'BLT' engine which is generally perceived to have something of a 'stutter' due to EU Emission Regulations.

Do a search and there's also a sticky somewhere on this issue.

So the old engines are better??

Just had a look at the light differences!

Pathetic or what! lol

Any more differences?

Your mate probably means you have a EU3 Emmission specification and he has EU4. Yours will be an ASZ engine code his will be BLT.

05/2005 was the changeover AFAIK.

Some other changes as well such as rear door pins deleted, one touch indicators. There are more but I can't remember them.

So basically there isnt much difference

I detest one touch indicators anyways.

The colour coded handles is a nice touch though

Older car will do an additional sweep of the wiper blades when washing windows

Wow!!

and the newer ones have a textured dash , the older ones don't ;) (wow, found one someone didn't beat me to ;) )

I've got an 04 plate fabia yet mine doesn't do the extra wiper wipe and has one-touch indicators

Or am I reading postmanpat's and VRStu's posts wrong?

I think the newer ones have had a 3rd rear headrest added as well because i remember thinking about paying to have one in mine, then when the "facelift" one came out with the rear light change, i noticed they had a 3rd rear headrest as well.

Also, mines an 06, and that doesn't have colour coded door handles. Only the standard black.

my wife's vrs is an 06, non colour coded door handles, stuttery engine, newer rear lights, rear door pins, textured dash, extra wipe when washing the windscreen. I guess Skoda just bunged what ever parts they had into any car.

You can get the extra (courtesy) wipe switched on by Skoda or someone with VAGCOM

I'm gonna have it done on mine.

...I guess Skoda just bunged what ever parts they had into any car.

I was wondering if Skoda operated a "lucky dip" assembly line ;)

That'd explain some of the build quality issues....

Also, earlier and later versions have different ratios in the gear box - I don't think it was part of the facelift though...

Having driven both boxes I can't say I noticed the different ratios...unless we're talking pre '04.

Maybe all these people with 'colour coded handles' have black Furby's? :D

The Sport was the only one with colour-coded door handles.

The gearbox change, facelift, and 'stuttery' engine all came at different times, and so I suspect, did things like the deletion of the extra wipe etc. (although these are only settings on the ECU anyway, like has already been said.)

Therefore, I have a 54-plate vRS, which is one of the first with the facelift. The facelift consisted of new dash materials, new rear light clusters and deletion of the rear door pins. It also has the 'new' gearbox ratios, but the 'old' engine, as well as one-touch indicators (which I think are a great idea as it goes) and the extra wipe after using the washers. A third headrest was an option, but not standard.

Hope this helps! :D

Mine is the older of the two then, my car was registered in June 05

David

Colour coded door handles became standard on cars built from 29-5-06.

3rd rear headrest was a £45 option

And from 24-10-05 engine became EUIV compliant (BLT)

Mine is a June 04

It has the newer style shorter badge... and I assume the shorter gear ratios...

But also has rear door pins, old style lights, middle lap belt, no rear middle headrest...
