My mk1 vRS finally clean! (quite a few pics)

Featured Replies

After buying the car a few months back..a house move and change of job etc.. I just never had the time to get the car properly waxed/polished etc..so it was passed to a friend for a detail.

The previous owner had an obsession with a car wash, so the paint wa quite bad.

Wont bore you all with what was used etc...so here's some before pics, showing the bad condition of the paint.

But i think you'll agree that Iain done a fantastic job.

Looks ace that  .

What does detailing involve? (Curious what all the masking off is for!)

I would guess that the car has had the paint defects rectified by using some kind of rotary buffer or a Porter Cable dual action buffer.

These allow much better scratch/surface defect removal than is possible by hand.

The trim is masked off to avoid it getting burnt/scuffed by the buffer pad.

The windows is a strange one, not normally done, but I guess this is to reduce splatter on them from the product(s).

Great results tho.

Funnily enough, the masking of the windows were mentioned when i posted this on ScottishVAG.

Wouldn't be anything to do with the tints would it ?

Polish getting onto it etc...

Its just to stop splatters on the windows.

The tape is to stop the trim getting polished and possibly burning the detailing.

Id also take it that Iain is Iain from Finder Details?

looks nice matie ! :P big difference

:Pmines black too so i know how nice it is when it is all sparkly and clean, you just need to keep it clean now lol xxsadielouxx:P

That's very clean mate, worth every penny from what the pictures show.

Now lets see if you can do it like that when you come to clean it next lol

Absolutely stunning! Any idea on the products used?

Products used were...

Chemical Guys Strongwash,

Poorboys Slicknsuds.

Car was then polished using a combination of different polishes and cutting pads on a PC/Rotary machine.

It was then polished with Menz Final Finish.

Jetseal 109

Nattys Red Wax

Wheels were done with Poorboys Wheel Sealant

Nice work. Top Job.

wow i want someone to do that to my paintwork!!

It's not a good idea to do it to a new car.

why isnt it a good idea to do it to a new car?

plenty of cars come from the dealers with buffer marks and scratches/swirls that can be removed.

if i were getting a new car id be taking a few days of work and giving it a dang good going over with a PC then giving it the full range of treatments

It's actually becoming more common for people buying brand new cars, to request that the dealer does not prep it, and instead, get the vehicle fully detailed and a paint correction.

Looks damn fine. A pro can work wonders with the right kit

Thanks for the comments folks.

It's a bit dirty now though. :(

Still...got my new foam lance and snow foam to clean it with tomorrow :D

looks awesome, its allways good to see the before pics as well.

If you are of a patient hard working disposition there is no good reason why you can't achieve the same results without paying some one else to do it,there are plenty of detailing tips scattered over the interweb, nothing technical, but quite hard work:D

Looks very nice mate was that done along Hutchison rd looks up that area

Wow it looks great :)

I know, i just dont have the time to be doing it, and for all it costs, i'd rather get someone to do it now and again. :)
