Allard EGR blanking kit

Featured Replies

Hey everybody!!! I've ordered the EGR blanking kit from Allard tuning. Does this make alot of difference and does it give good power gains?

Chers Joe

Does it give any power gains?

Does stop the inlet clogging up, but will put the engine management light on.

I read somewhere that EGR blanking could increase combustion temps... :(

What he said. :D

No real power gains, but it ensures a consistent, clean flow of air into the engine - which for me means clean power, and no dirty exhaust gases going back into the engine again. Management light to me means nothing, but I can scan my car when I want to ensure it's only the EGR flow fault doing it.

Is there a way of stopping the eml coming on???

Nope.

What a bugger

What a bugger

Not really. :) You just need to be able to ensure it's just the EGR bringing it up. I only worry when something other than EGR appears in 01 engine - but thankfully to date nothing has. :)

There were a couple of posts about that Alligator chiptuning (amongst others) can tune out the CEL light, but havent heard about anyone in UK doing it..

BTW - another plus is the boost gauge nipple on the Allard pipe, all ready to go....

You also get engine shut down shudder as the anti shudder valve is also removed when fitting this. You get used to it.

IS this a normal read for a car with the EGR removed?

Not the last two faults in 01 no, thats something else.

19586 - EGR System Regulation Range Exceeded

P3130 - 35-10 - - - Intermittent

This is the only one I get with my EGR removed. :)

Hmmmm, wondering about the other ones now - just keep coming back and back.

only since the EGR removal though.

Well, these two suggest wiring loose/disconnected to me. and possibly the other two faults indirectly relate to this. Checked the plug connection on the vacuum box? Not sure where else to check.

car is running fine. strange.

Well the intake manifold flap is now missing so its not suprising its got a fault with that.

The other two are sporadic, clear them down and see how you get on.

Wonder why I'm not getting the flap codes.

Hedgehog? Did you get the full racepipe?

Maybe Allard mapped that bit out?

Possible, but I fitted the racepipe after Jabba had mapped the car on it's first hybrid, and several months before Allard got their hands on it and the latest turbo was fitted. Bit late in the night to be thinking about it, but I thought the only electrical connections to that bit of the car was the 6 wire plug going into the vacuum box. Wonder if me shoving golf tees in the two spare vacuum hose ends did anything?

It's a BLT thing as the flap is wired into the ECU, I get the first two codes too.

Aha! Bingo. But in all cases, the car runs fine it seems. :) So is there actually a spare wiring loom plug when you do the racepipe mod? Never knew that.

my car was mapped at JBS (sadly).

I had the EGR blanked at the upper pipework (the corrigated tubey bit that comes up to the OE part), which then split a few weeks later!

The whole lot is out now, and the pipework has all been rehashed. The blanking plate is now on the turbo.

Pleased with the lack of stutter, and have got sed to the shut down shudder.

Yup, I just ziptied it underneath the ECU, also had to redrill the race pipe flange as all the holes were off by about 5mm
