My next car will be a .........

Featured Replies

Next March my much loved Superb will be going for part exchange (I try and change my car before the warranty is up after 3 years)and as I can't find anything else that comes close to what it offers in the way of price, comfort and sheer pleasure of driving I am looking to buy another one.....but has the dreaded DPF issue been sorted yet so I can buy a 2.0 pd140 ? ....dont whant a 2.5 V6 as the mpg is way down and that engine is HEAVY.

Also although the new one is out next year, I think it will be way out of my price range.

Second choice

Looked at the Octy tdi vrs estate and Octy elegance estate but for the same Price the Superb has tons more goodies and they are still a bit pricey for a nearly new...it may actually have to be one though if the particulate filter thing isn't sorted on the Superb.

I want to stay with Skoda so any ideas or low prices are welcome

The 2.0 TDi PD140 doesnt have a DPF, so no issues there. Only the PD170 in the vRS has the DPF.

The used values of the Superb have taken a real hit recently Rob. I think you'd do well to box clever here -

Sell yours before or just when the new Superb is launched/announced and buy yourself a decent used example of an Octy II or something that will not lose too much value (Typically Elegance TDi's seem to do well) over a reasonably short period of ownership. As soon as it's announced get your name down on the list for a new Superb.

Edit - Just noticed you think the new will be too expensive. If you bought another the same as yours then I think you would lose big time.

:)If you love your current Superb why not keep it?

I know my Octy II doesn't have a DPF (54 plate) but i have a feeling they came in on later models

They don't have them on 06 plates and I am not sure if they even do now. Might be on MY2008 cars, but I don't know.

The problem is finding anything without one these days.

my 07 octavia scout 2.0 tdi has adpf

might just have to be an Octy then....... just have to find a decent 07 plate elegance or L&K estate for good price ..........and hopefully no dpf

I have to admit I wouldn't get a superb at the moment, have you had a look on DTD at passat prices?

This may give you an idea of the discounts available on the new superb when it comes out.

Also why not take out an extended warrenty from somebody like WD and run the current car until the new one comes out?

The scout has the DPF because the 4x4 system increases the emissions. The normal FWD version doesnt currently need one.

Rob, check the maximum Tow of the Oct'y think it's about 1400kg and 75kg noseweight. think the Scout may be higher.

That would be plenty, the MAW is 1030KG on the van

Will have to keep checking the skoda site for nearly new elegance estates

Why not have a change?

You have 2 Skodas at home.....why not try somthing a little diffrent like a beafy German car? may I say a VW Passat or a 4x4 or some kind

The new Honda Civic Type R GT:- £18,627

Engine 1998cc, four cylinders

Power 198bhp @ 7800 rpm

Acceleration 0-62mph: 6.6sec

Top speed 146mph (quicker if you add mods)

Take your pick, and good luck

I think if you're not going the Superb root, it has to be an L&K.

Why change it if you're happy with the one you already have ?

Or maybe something American?

The 2.0 TDi PD140 doesnt have a DPF, so no issues there. Only the PD170 in the vRS has the DPF.

The 16v 2.0 TDi 140 as fitted to the Octavia and the rest of the VAG range does not have a DPF.

The 8v unit fitted to the Superb does have a DPF. (It's also tax band E rather than D)

Just keep the Superb Rob... to be honest I think you'll struggle to find something as comfy, well equipped, nice to drive, powerful, frugal, reliable etc without spending a huge amount of cash. A warranty from warranty direct would be a few hundred quid if that puts your mind at ease :)

A6 Avant looks nice!!

Or maybe something American?

Like a Ford GT!!! or a PickUp truck

Passat W8.

I think Rob wants something with atleast similar economy to the Superb, only guessing though...

Doh!

He did suggest as much, didn't he. My apologies!

Vauxhall Signum 3.0 V6 DTCI. Seriously fast with a simple remap.
