I too have ordered without trying as there was not one available to test drive. I drive a 2.0 petrol Fabia at the moment so I don't know how different the two will be driving wise.

What is the list price of these 1.8T L&Ks in Ireland?

I can't help thinking that the RS will hold its value a bit better but I suppose its all relative to the initial outlay and the hard cash you loose on depreciation not percentages.

Was only trying to help.....

List price for the ambiente is E24300, the elegance is E 25800, ambiente doesn't even get air con here so not really in the equation.

What kind of a cash discount can one expect?

I know that  - but guess only way anyone could really help is give me a 1.8 t L&K to test drive :rofl:

Best offer has been €30,000 for cash, plus use of a car till mine come in :D

just a thought Bryan, the Audi A3 has been available in Ireland for the last several months with the 1.8 tsi engine , you might be able to get a testdrive in 1 of them to see what the engine is like.....

Might look into that - cheers bud

At 70 in 6th gear the revs are 2500 on the 1.8 Tfsi engine. I have just change to the 1.8 L&K from a 1.8 Civic. Everything is better. Power, suspension, comfort and view out the rear window. Ahh a rear wiper again !

Just what I wanted to hear seeing as I am making the same move :D

How you finding the economy?

Only had the car 12 days but it looks like around 35mpg.

The passat 1.8TSI is out now in Ireland and is a whole 5000 EURO dearer than the 1.6FSI passat.

Makes the octavia seem like a right bargain considering its only 800euro more for the 1.8TSI over the 1.6FSI elegence!

New passat 1.4tsi (120bhp) is also now out and priced @26500euro for the base model -not bad value considering

Don't go for a vRS over the L&K. I came out of a MK1 L&K into a MKII vRS. Hate it. 1.8T petrol generation is supposed to be great too. A fine combination IMHO. Go for it. Heated seats and lit interior handles rock!! : )

Got a call from the dealer on fri saying the car was in the compound here in Cork and he hoped to have it bysat morning . Contacted a friend who works in the docks where the cars are unloaded and stored, asked him to check out the car and make sure everything looked ok, and to keep it to 1 side all safe for me :D. Got a call back from him about 90mins later saying he could not find the car there at all :finger:.

Called the dealer back and his guess was the car was already loaded on a truck and on its way to him, call him from work at noon sat and he would give me the good news :D. So I call - and no car turned up . He now said call him mon morning and it should be there .

Talked with my friend again and he told me he has heard of cars for Cork being loaded onto trucks for god knows where around the country and taking weeks to be returned :finger::thumbdwn:.

So the waiting goes on , but with luck it will turn up tomorrow , then just get Octy Sport bumpers and Milotec boot spoiler fitted and she will be mine :D

Looking good Bryan, those wheels look the business. So when is it getting its maiden run to Dublin? The Gandon meet on the 20th might be an idea ;)

I bet you'll be glad to see the back of the Civic.

Well wear it mate

:rofl:that didn't take ya long to change your mind. Btw Will you be up with your sister the night before?

Have just bought a 1.8TSI (Elegance only I'm afraid- but engine obviously the same)

Power unit is exceptionally smooth quiet and free reving with virtually no vibration. Performance is punchy - in fact I'd say it drives more like most TDI's in respect of low down torque, but it dosn't run out of steam at 3Krpm, its much smoother and quieter and quite a lot cheaper to buy than the 2.0 140TDI for example. This one still only has 500 miles but in mixed driving I'm getting 34 ish indicated mpg at the moment. I have not been on a long run yet but would expect to see upper 30s from my impressions at the moment. You can still buy a lot of fuel for £1.5k especially with diesel being 5-6% dearer in uk currently. Hope this is some use for any prospective TSI buyers.

Sister is coming down for my brothers 40th on the 18th, so am thinking of driving her home on the 19th and call in to the meet on way home. Will contact you when know the plan fully and know if can get off work or not, but think will be in Dub on the Sat night
