did you pick up the car yet??:

Got her :D:D- and all my fears are out of the window . Comfortable, smooth ride, nicely peppy ;), as others have said some road noise but I think this is down to everything else being so quiet .

Car is filthy already as have only driven it on half flooded - muddy back roads to check her out and so far am impressed

Will try get some pix up in the next few days, but my honest guess is Colm will have a pic of it from the meet on sunday before I get round to posting any of my own :rofl:

Looks good:thumbup:

Looks very well Brian. Why don't you get the door mouldings painted or fit painted RS ones. Just my 2c.

My RS is getting its rear bumper repainted by Owen Hodder as I marked it slightly when unhitching my trailer a few weeks ago.

Must agree bryan it looks the business, happy motoring (I bet your glad to see the back of the Civic ;))

The door moulding might be an idea alright ......but don't go toooooooo far ;)

Cheers guys . I am not 100% happy with the paint match on the bumpers, going to chat with a buddy (a panel beater) and see if he thinks it is good enough or not .

Alarm and bluetooth fone kit fitted today - MP3 player worked 1st time of asking  (some on here seem to have had probs) 6CD in-dash is great .

Think we are going to be very happy together :D

Not tonight but in the next few days ;)

 No comment from Gaff yet

After the spin comment ?

I didn't get a chance ;)

Lovely bus, seats are really nice, and loads of other nice touches. Theres a strange growl out of the engine when you put the foot down, never noticed in the old 1.8T or the 2.0TFSI (I know different engines :D). Handles well and looks the business.

I think Bryan has found the car that WILL keep him happy for another while

Btw I think its well run in now, so much for not keeping up :rofl::rofl:

Ok, here goes with an early report on the car.

The Look: Apart from a slight colour mis-match :thumbdwn:(that it is going back to have sorted), I love the overall looks of the car with the Skoda front and rear bumper covers and the Milotec boot spoiler ( am not a lover of the Skoda boot spoiler ). The wheel design suits the car nicely, and I doubt I will do much else to it other that have the door moldings colour coded :D.

Insiide: The dealer had wanted me to go for the black finish inside but I am so glad I did not, I think the silver/grey leather lifts the cabin. The electric seat gives fine comfort (tho not as good as the Superb - to narrow on the base) and combined with decent rake on the steering wheel allows for anyone to find a great driving position  Have never been a lover of the Skoda green back-lighting, but here it seems to work, with the white pointers on the dials and the Maxi-dot breaking it up, it just works . Only change I made inside was to fit a set of Milotec stainless steel rings around the climate controls and think they look like they should be there in the 1st place.

On the road: Had read abit in here about the Octy haveing quite a bit of road/tyre noise on the move, and on my first drive I did hear it by the time I was doing 50kph and feared for the worst, but it just did not get to much louder from there:confused:, like it hits a set volume and holds it . It is to easy to exceed any speed limit as the car remains very quiet overall at any speed. The ride quality is the best I have had in any of my cars , a slight fidgit over some surfaces, but allowing for the 225/45/17s, I am MORE than happy with it (leaves the Civic - on the same rubber - in the dust here). Audio quality is more than good enough for me, and being able to have upto 900 songs in the 6slot MP3 CD player, and the armrest MP3 player connection working fine, I doubt I will be short on music for a long time :D.

Not really had a chance to try it in the corners yet, but grip seems strong - will wait for the roads to dry out a little before I take her for a blast on a fav back road.

The Engine: Had no idea of what to expect here, but WOW, lets say it is all I hoped for and more . As Gaff says - there is a strange (but nice) growl when starting to extend it, but it is also VERY quiet when not going for it:D. It has all the power I could want, feels like more than the stated 160bhp - it feels every bit as fast as I remember my old vRS and that has 180bhp. Power is instant, very little lag, stays smooth right up the revs, has almost turbo diesel like pull from low revs, again I say WOW, I just love this engine:D:D.

Economy: Well over the 1st 800'ish miles, the onboard readout is 31mpg, and if this is an over-read, am guessing it to be about 29mpg. I must admit to using the lower gears quite often :D, the car has been driven by at least 15 other friends , and has spent quite a bit of time sitting at idle while we looked over / talked about the car, or had 4 of us sitting talking in the car with all the heated seats keeping us nice and warm :rofl:, so wont make a call on the economy just yet. However, on the run down from the VAG meet I did drive in my "normal" style ;). Whit this the trip was reading 38mpg for the run, my old vRS would have been 40/41, the Civic about 43/44 and the Superb about 48/50 for the same run. Will post up my reading when I get back to some more normal driving :rofl:.

Sum-up: Over the 1st week and 800mls, I could not be happier with her . All the comfort, power, refinement and "feelgood" factor I could have wished for from the car. I love the looks, I smile while driving it, all in all a gret start to what I hope will be a long love affair with my new Octavia L&K TSI.

Bryan

Sounds good,

Well wear!
