Hi guys,

When changing my stereo over today there were black and brown iso connectors as usual but there was also a another plug that was multicoloured (pink, green and blue I think?).

Obviously I haven't plugged it into to anything but was just wondering what it was?!

By the way, there's NO room behind the stereo to for the leads!!!!! Had to proper push the cables to the back / out the side!

Also I think one of my torx screws on the glovebox is rounded off when putting back on :( What's the best way to get it out (if I need to in the future?).

I changed my stereo ages ago, so can't remember exactly what was behind there, but could it be the connection for the CD changer?

How could I forget that?

Oh and for anyone else who's interested the £13 iso cable from halfords changes the power cables over and also doesn't connect the k-line.

It's actually split into three sections (yellow, green and red IIRC). In mine, just one of the three is used and it's for the CD changer. If you were to fit an amplifier to a standard head unit, you would use one of the other sections I think.

For what it's worth, taking the glovebox out (5x t25 torx screws) lets you get your hand in behind the radio to pull the wiring out of the way.

Got most of the big connections just out the back enough to fit the head unit it.

Loving the sub now, just going to take a couple of weeks to get the levels set up I reckon with a bit of playing.

Any idea on how to get the rounded torx screw out?

Still might have to change the route of the power cable a bit. At the moment it goes down the side of the trim on the drivers side, then pops out of the trim... across the under the drivers seat then up the middle.

Worried about the plastic of the trim wearing through the cable although I doubt it'd ever happen. Just really don't want to set my car on fire

If the cable did break after the fuse would it still break?

If the cable did break after the fuse would it still break?

The fuse should be as close to the battery as possible. If the cable was to rub/cut through and touch the body (after the fuse, on the side of the amp) then the fuse would blow so you should be safe enough.

Not sure about the rounded torx - if there's access you could try cutting a slot in the head and using a normal flat blade screw driver. Or possibly a pair of pliers on the head?

If it's one of the lower two, you can probably reach up behind them and unscrew them with a pair of pliers on the actual thread. Failing that it would be easy enough to drill them and use a stud extractor (or just drill the head clean off and then use pliers to get the remains out once the glove box is out of the way. Be careful not to melt the plastic if you drill it.

That's good to know as the fuse is only about 5 inches from the battery I used the proper grommet behind the glove box too.

I think i'll try the pliers method then try and cut a slot if not.

it is possible to route the power cable, all the way along the passenger side into the hatch/boot. A lot of trim needs removing, but the end result is neat.

Yea, the thing is I've already run the rca/remote cable down the passenger side.

I think I might get some velcro straps and put some under the plastic over the pedals and put the cable tight in there. Then there wouldn't be any pinching and they'd run clear of the pedals.

It's pretty tidy at the moment tbh, you can only see the cable from the driver side door for like 1 inch but if I did what I said above I doubt you'd be able to see it at all.

Might see if I've got enough slack on the weekend
