Rotrex C15 Supercharger

Featured Replies

I've been doing some research for work this week into removing turbo lag, on small turbocharged engines. Obviously read all about the VW TSI 1.4 'twin-charger' engine and had an idea....

Check out the Rotrex website if your interested. The little centrifugal compressor could be driven off the auxillary drive belt, maybe in place of aircon. It would obviously need alot of development, but if taken on by the right tuning company, it could become a very useful tuning package. (Turbocharger and supercharger)

Just imagine it! Zero lag and even more torque!

Does anyone know if somebody has tried this before?

my mate's having a tubo and a supercharger in his Mk3 Golf 16v...

Balls to that nonsense - you need one of these! ;):D

...and on a slightly more serious note, I thought the general consensus about the Golf Twincharger was that it should be filed under "shouldn't have bothered"...?

About the only "turbo and supercharger" installation I can come up with is the Lancia Delta 038.

Not sure I see a lot of point really, cos I think you'll need to accept the supercharger power consumption, or else mess about with clutches and bipass ducts.

I have a rotrex for my Z1000

The project starts over chrimbo and if I pull my finger out should be 200bhp ish at the wheel.

Very well made, and extremley compact units.

I never did get round to trying one of those :rofl:

the trouble with the rotrex units is they need an external oil resovoir and cooler, to be honest centrifugal superchargers wont solve anything in regards to lag, maybe for small efficient superchargers you need to look at the sprintex screw chargers

someone i know has just managed to get hold of one of the micra superturbo roots supercharger units. looks up to the job and has an electronic clutch.

maybe i should try finding one. i agree that the rotrex wouldn't be as useful at low revs, but was struggling to find a neat simple unit that would fit in.

i think i need one of those micras! looks awesome.

we need to find one of these small superchargers and have a play i recon...

:D

i want a twin charged 4WD octavia :D

porsche eater!

er.............someone already has a 350bhp octavia 4x4, another has a 450bhp octavia 4x4 and hopefully once mine's all back together it'll be around 300bhp and 4x4 :D

i think its jbs that have a 600bhp octy:eek:

thats FWD though mate :P

that may be,but if this sort of power is possible on the vrs,it is possible on the 1.8t 4x4,i would look into it if i were you,cos your gonna need it .......

so i can lap times as fast as you rather than just twice as fast?? :P

:rofl::rofl::rofl:
