Tyre wear on RS

Featured Replies

What is the typical mileage you get out of a set of tyres on your RS.

Mine came with Dunlop SP Sport 2000's when it bought it in 02. So far have done only 11k, and just got it serviced. The fronts are down from 8mm to 4mm each, and the rears down to 6mm. Everything wearing evenly and no need to tracking even after 12months since previous service. So I expect to get at least another 6k out of them or 1 more years driving.

Sounds about right, I got 20k out of the 1st tyres on mine.

At my 1st service (18K) got them to swap over the fronts and rears. Now coming up to 32K and still have a bit of life left in them, they are Dunlop Sport 3000's.

Hmmm - first set (nasty hard cheap horrible things) - about 34K

Current set (Kumho) on about 9k presently and less than half the tread left on the fronts (but that does include some track/airfield time).

Concensus seems to be somewhere in the 15-20k range.

8000 on the front ;)

hmm I'm down to limit on mine (well the twi's, still a few more miles till the wire ;) ) just racked up 15K, dunlops 3000's too. Flanno swap em round to even out the wear and yuo should make em last :D

Got 18k out of my Dunlops (swapped F to R at 9k) then swapped to Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2s and have just passed 22k on these (swapped F to R at 10k) and reckon theres 3-4k left in them.

Paul..

The Bridgestones mine came on are fire trucked after 9k. :(

Ah well, means the Neros can go on this afternoon :D

Ok, I want new tyres. Those dunlop Sp2000's are way too noisy.

I have read all the reviews linked from eiretyres.com and am going to sick with 205/15/16 91W's.

So it's either the Eagle F1 GSD3's (113 euros a corner) or Bridgestone Potenza RE720's (121 euros a corner) ? Any advice. Both are getting good reviews when it comes to braking and handling in the dry and wet. But which is better from a road noise, and wear point of view.

thx

My fronts lasted only 7k and that was normal day driving

Hmm the Fabia done a pair of Toyos in 9k.

whats the "hmm" about? have a look at the torque fig in your sig! :) you must rip your tyres up in third:)

It does struggle for grip sometimes ;)

I'm getting about 12-13k out of my fronts, 20k out of my rears (Dunlop SP Sport 3000), and my Toyos are on target for similar figures or possibly slightly less. About half my driving is at high speed on twisty roads so can't really complain. Gonna be moving at work soon and it will be motorway and city driving door-to-door so should hopefully see an improvement.
