Smashed front foglight

Featured Replies

Just found a 5p size hole in my o/s/f foglight (vrs).Looks like a bit of a pig to remove. Please tell me the bumper doesn't have to come off - can you get to it by removing the o/s headlamp ??.Skoda quoted over £100 to replace it - youch !!!

On a Lupo (which uses the same lamp), you can access it from below.

If you have the fingers of a 2 year old child you can get to it, but only just.

I went through 4 foglights and each time I removed the bumper.

Damn. I have a nearside one i need to get rid of!

Both of mine have been cracked for a while, bloody stone chips from the motorway. Local dealer said it'd be £45 per lens, not sure if that included fitting though.

I dont think the bumper has to come off, I think the surround just pulls off to get access to the screws but I am not sure.

my drivers side 1 is cracked too..... but my fabia is a pre facelift non vrs......

On the pre-facelift model they are easy to change.

Pull out the black part of the grill beside the lamp(the bit you would remove to insert the towing hook) and the lamp is held by two screws.

Remove the screws , pull the lamp forward carefully and disconect the wiring harness.

Replacement is reversal of the above.

I have just replaced the O/S/Front one on our Fabia , there is a chap on ebay selling them (buy it now) for £19.99 plus £3 P&P.

They are not original Skoda but a very good copy.

Hope this helps

Both my foglights were smashed by stone chippings withing 3 months of buying the car, just cover them with sellotape, that's what i did, lights still work and it's a lot cheaper.

I took the view it wasn't worth getting them fixed as our local highways department pour stone chippings onto our main roads every year.

Unfortunately the mounting screws on the Vrs foglight are positioned vertically and thus virtually impossible to remove by just pulling off the surround.Bumper off would seem to be the best way.Skoda quoted me £103 to supply and fit, i thought i'd save about £50 by fitting it myself but Skoda quoted £78 just for the foglight. GSF Carparts have just told me £29.50 plus VAT, which sounds a lot better. Might have a go at it this weekend if the damn weather stays fine. GSF part number is 94374F. Can't comment on the quality as i haven't got my hands on it yet, but will post in due course.

My offside foglight lens needed replacing but as soon as it was I got some clear film from WH Smiths (the type of stuff used for covering books) and cut a couple of circles to put over the foglamp lenses.

You can barely see the film is on and light performance is pretty much the same.

Can they be got at from the wheelarch by removing the liner/undertray?

got any pictures or links?

Here is a link for a left hand fog listing that has just finished.

Skoda Fabia Front Fog Lamp L/H -BRAND NEW on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 29-Nov-07 21:56:03 GMT)

I emailed the chap and he listed the right hand version I wanted.

They are made by Diamond, exactly the same as the original, the only difference I found was it had Diamond on the glass and the light is E marked for the eec.

He is also selling the later Fabia ones as well

Hope this helps

Just fitted new o/s foglight to my Vrs. Lot of faffing around (bumper removed) to change a lamp.New unit was from GSF Carparts, perfect fit and pretty good quality. £34.68 each inc VAT (Bulb not included). GSF part No's n/s 94374D o/s 94374F . Hope this helps anybody in a similar situation, lot better than £78 each at Skoda.

top result then, the job is neve as bad as you think it will be,i find most of these jobs can be completed by anyone really with a little patience:thumbup:
