How to (Removing Stereo)

Featured Replies

Hi All

It's probably been done to death.

But is it easy to take the stereo out of the new Octavia II vRS.

Do I need any special tools?

Thanks

Kevin

Nope, unless you consider a set of torx adaptors special.

It is very easy to remove.

Grasp the silver trim surrounding the stero at the bottom - just above the ash tray.

Gently pull it out and the clipped silver trim will come off to leave 4 screws holding in the radio.

Remove these, unplug the huge connector and the stereo is out.

You can buy a complete DIN replacement kit from Skoda for £51, as you need a wiring converter from CAN to ISO (Std car audio).

There are some good instructions with pictures from vRSTU on here if you have a look ;)

Cheers Guys

I'm not changing the head unit. I just need to get to the back of it to install the Parrot bluetooth thingy into the ISO connectors.

I assume you mean Quadlock and not ISO.

The OctyII uses the new variant of connector called Quadlock and not the traditional ISO Black/Brown ones.

when you go to put the screws back in, be aware if you drop them they fall into the stereo, it might be worth while putting a thin bit of cardboard in the gap so if you do lose the screw you wont lose it into the stereo. ;)

Or using a magnetic screw driver :P:thumbup:

The parrot kit is ISO, but I have got the ISO converter cables from Parrot for the Octavia II. So fingers crossed it should work.

The new RS doesn't arrive until next Friday. I can't wait.

Beware that you will also probably need to swap over the CD changer and aux in connectors to the new quadlock as well as I understand that they do not carry through the parrott loom.

Oh dear.

Try the search and you'll find a longish thread covering the woes of another owner with this setup. I think he did it in the end so you might get some top tips.
