312mm really worth doing ???

Featured Replies

I'm concidering doing the mod of putting TT brakes on I've read the thread but it doesn't seem to say any where just HOW much better it is with the bigger brakes on ??

I personally think the brakes are quite good on the FR so just wondering what the general concensus of opinion is ??

all comments greatfully accepted

312's are better.

If you are happy with the current setup then leave it be.

YES. much better... especially if u have remapped they r essential... :D

When I drive SWIMBO's Fabia the brakes leave a lot to be desired :(

In Short. Yes they are better HTH :D

Oh, and they look the nuts too!!

on my first hard stab after i bedded them in i nearly put myself through the window, they never fade either(or havn't done yet)where the standard ones faded badly after a bit of abuse, but if you don't drive like that and have bever found the standard set up wanting then maybe you don't need them,on a track they are essential equipment.

and i agree,they look great

The way I look at it - it's like the "chain is only as strong as the weakest link" philosophy.

If you are going to push the car beyond standard in terms of power - better get the brakes to match.

They are far better than OEM- you can almost do motorbike "stoppies". The Audi TT weighs nearly 750 lb more IIRC (correct me someone) and these were designed to stop it nicely... They work even better on the fabia...

Only risk is that of going through the windshield first time you really use them hard - the brake feel with usual use is a major improvement as well...

HTH make up your mind....

The problem is more the feel of the std brakes are terrible.. i bet if you just switched to the "golf" type calipers and stuck with 288mm you would love them, they are so much more progressive and controllable than the std items

Yes they are worth doing ;)

Like Octav.ed said if your going for a remap then you should really think about changing them!!!

It's allready remapped,Cupra PD intake, green filter and Forge FMIC,

Jabba ARB and SEAT sport front strut brace.

just wanted to make sure that I would noyice the difference.

As I don't really like spending money on stuff and NOT notice a change :(

I had the Ibiza 130TDi and the 312's was one of the first things I had done ;)

The standard brakes were :pants:

I'd obviously say that they are worth doing! ;)

Seriously, I have 312's on the golf for 3 years now and they are a far better performing set up than the standard 288's
