Spotted a New Jag XF

Featured Replies

Spotted a new Jag XF today on the A1231 from Sunderland to the A1, came up from behind and it looks very very nice, cool tail lamps and the leaping cat logo looks good. From the side it's just as good, the wheels were a little bit small on the model I spotted but the window line is very XK like, nice touches like the vent on the front arches

Then we get to the front and it seems to have been designed by someone else, maybe someone who used to work for Kia or Perodua?? If only they had left the headlights like the show car :(

Not a fan at all, from the hands-on look at the MPH show last month.

A distinct assortment of styles in my mind and doesn't look like a Jag at the front at all. And has a definite Lexus GS feel at 3/4 rear view...

:thumbdwn: I'm afraid, as much as I'd like the company to do well with this one.

Steve

it looks like a dogs dinner from the front.

I've no doubt the internals, and the sticky up gear lever wil be a winner, but.....

If I could afford one, I wouldn't buy one.

Good spot but oh indeed - what's the sketch with the front headlights?! In concept they were just right; in production, it's just got a look of pure shock . If you took the Growler badge away from the grill, it could be a Lexus.

Dare i say, i really like it :P

I personally think they have messed up here big time... it could have been soooo much more than it is... but how can you escape the c*** up that is the front! I think it looks like a mondeo! I wonder how that happened...?? *cough, ford, cough*!!!

looky-likee

Tehehe... Jaguar are pleased to announce the new Hyundai Coupe!!!!! Funny!

Good shout on the Hyundai comparision!

Dare i say, i really like it :P

Well, it would be a bit boring if we all liked the same things wouldn't it? :) So, when's the Octy getting chopped in for one?? :P

Steve

I think it looks awesome, I'm definately going down the jag garage when I replace the ST next year! 99.9% buying one!

Suppose it is a pretty good car on the face of it all... BUT... it could have been a bit better in the sense of some more original styling on the exterior instead of looking like every other car already out.

But agree with above posts... in a way its likeable... as a car it awesome... but come on ford/jaguar... why quite so plain?? I think they should have made it look a bit more out of the ordinary and meaner!!!

I've been a Jag fan from the 3.2 & the Mk 10 and some of their recent concepts have been brilliant - the XK180 Jaguar XK180 Concept OMG! Yet they also have a V6 diesel estate... It's almost as bad as a Bentley estate

This one's a Lexus with a 1990's Volvo Grille - where's the oval gone?

Saw 2 of these on M40 tuesday, both were being followed by 4 range rovers which had yellow stickers on the tail gate.

Good shout on the Hyundai comparision!

I wish :P

Saw one on the M56 this morning, and IMHO, it looks even worse than I though from pictures and the TV ad. I stand by my Hyundai Sonata comparison even more than the Hyundai Coupe look-alike suggested above (joint venture perhaps?! ;P ), and also think they must have given all their exterior styling to Homer Simpson as per his dream car (not just the XK as I suggested in the look-alike thread!)

There's just too much going on with the styling. I can see it now: "What do you want in a car, Mr Simpson?"

"Vents in the wings,"

"OK,"

"A mesh grille,"

"You got it!"

"Curvy rear lights like on an Aston,"

"Sure!"

"A slopy roof like a CLS,"

"No problem!"

"A big power bulge on the bonnet,"

"Good idea!"

etc, etc, etc...

See, all these things look good individually, but the styling is definitely far less then the sum of its parts... :thumbdwn:

Bit like the England football team - perhaps it's going for a Traditional English theme to keep up with American marketin stereotypes? :D

Only ever seen it in pictures and I agree, looks crap.

I quite like it. We've had a metalic red one with all the toys fitted parked on display at our golf club today, should still be there tomorrow, so I'll get a picture.

I like it :D

Getting back in your good books - I agree

I like it too.

I agree the front end is a tad plain, but the overall package works.

I've been to a launch event at Jaguars invitation and -

I love it, it looks absolutely awesome.

The 2.7d was fantastic to drive, the gimicky gearbox was actually very simple and intuitive to use, and as for the big V8 beast - Wow.

Got a few pics of the one parked at my golf club today.

The red is a lighter shade in metalic, but had to use my Nokia N73.

Had another version of the Jaguar XF parked at work today, the SV8.
