Clutch p0rn. NSFW, phwoooar!

Featured Replies

 Sorry, I'm sure it is pretty safe for work. My clutch arrived this week whilst I waa away in Bristol on work training, so opened her up today. My god. The whole clutch/flywheel setup must only weigh about 18kg or so - that's an alloy single mass flywheel with the clutch housing and a clutch plate which should cope with 560 lb/ft at the wheels. Couple of pics below. :)

Have saved myself a pretty penny on this. Total price roughly £610 in the end, once I'd paid for the clutch and paid my chap in Florida to send it on to me. It's a very nice $32.99 frying pan set. :D

Actually, INCLUDING the box it came in, the declared weight is 27.74lb, so I make that just under THIRTEEN kg.:thumbup:

Edit - Can someone tell me what is pictured below. I assume it's some kind of bearing related item, but have absolutely no idea. :o

From what I remember from my days at college stripping tractors down, it looks like the thrust bearing to open the clutch?

/\ Starter handle !

if indeed it's a frying pan sir, then I'm afraid the item in question must be a grinder of some sorts.

I'll ask my at the next old codgers meet :)

Looking nice Jason...

yeah its the clutch release bearing J :)

i have the same setup waiting for my rebuild :D

thats a good price there and a nice saving over the official price from a UK retailer, a few hundred quid i think!

By the time I'd factored in the extra shipping from Florida to UK, this has cost me just a few quid over £600. The best price I got from this country was £850 from some place that's a partner on SCN - However I wasn't sure of exactly what i was getting, so spoke direct to the chaps at spec in Alabama (real deep south accent :D) and did it via them direct.

I realised the weight of 27.74 lb includes the box too, so this whole lot probably weighs about 12 kg in all.

the TT shop J :)

you got eh contact details for spec please J as i got a quote from the TT shop for my pressure plate but if i can save through going direct then all the better :)

i could do with the details jase, tts just arn't coming up with the answers i need

Mmmmmmmmmm........ that's a nice looking piece of kit.

You got a nice deal there.

clutch slave cylinder (clutch release bearing)- been told you should always change them whenever you're in there just in case the old one is suboptimal...

That is so obscenely beautiful!:thumbup::D

SPEC Clutches & Flywheels: Auto Parts, Domestic, Import, Truck, Racing, Drifting

Ask for David Norton on email = chances are he will reply direct to any email. Use the "contact" link and send a little note to them.

Obviously I have a guy in Florida who I use for shipping - so that "importing" is not as costly as it should be. I don't want to impose on him so would ask not to be inundated with requests for customs avoidance please. There's already a mate of mine sending a clutch through him.

Looks fantastic. Is it viewable to others once fitted? :P

Yep - they just need to log on to this thread. :P

Damn you - got me thinking about making gearboxes out of glass now....

bloody hell that was cheap

i just spent £820 on a helix clutch and flywheel, how good is this in comparision with the one you have?

yours is like a toy by comparison, the spec stage 3+ is probably as good as it gets

Ultra light flywheel - 12kg for the whole kit.

Clutch plate rated to 560 lb/ft at the wheels. ;)

This should be the bullet-proof clutch I have been needing for some time now.

what clutch were you previously running?

Wouldnt say a Helix cluth was a toy by comparison i would leave that for the sachs clutch.

what about stage 4 and 5??

:P:P:P:P:P

and basil although correct on this occasion normally the slave cylinder and release bearing are two seperate items :)

"400 lb/ft" ...... ;) Orgnanic kevlar clutch from JBS. Has been good to be fair but I've made it slip badly twice now, so it's time to go. Still going OK in my car now, but it would serve someone with a lesser remap much better - which is why I've already sold it on. :D

:P:P:P:P:P

The stage 4 oddly enough has a lower torque rating than the 3+. :D But the stage 5 is rated to 650 lb.ft apparently. I just thought the stage 3+ looked like the best value for money.

whats the helix rated at?

Derv doctor quotes 440 f-lb.??

Group buy Group buy! :D
