Icy windows inside!

Featured Replies

I don't understand it, it's a real pain. I sorted all my windows out, get into the car and its bloody got ice on the insides of the windscreen?! Not only that, but I get an unbelievable amount of steam on the windscreen as well :S

Wet rear carpets.....down to leaking rear door seals. Pretty common.

Water through fan wetting pollen filter? See my note today in the tech section.

I'v checked that, but I can't feel anything, that's why I was stumped ^^

You checked the pollen filter? Perhaps it could be blocked with leaves, debris etc.

I had similar problems this week too, and still have a slightly leaky offside rear door seal....

Steve

I have only just dried my car out after finding all the windows

down it the rain :(

Yup, I had that too, had the rear door seals done and it was all good again.

I had the same thing :( My window this morning was covered in ice! Not fun getting rid of it. Anyway, I thought I'd check the back seats and the near-side passenger footwell was damp! How do I sort this out?

Also, when its just cold I will find water on the inside of the windscreen (as if it's condensed inside).

Is this all down to dodgy door seals? Can I fix it somehow? Does it only affect the rear doors?

Thanks

Jon

This can be caused by the outside temperature dropping rapidly to around freezing point.

The inside air remains at a slightly higher temperature, and the window glass as a conductor of heat drops to the same as the outside.

This causes the air inside the car nearest the window to condense and moisture forms on the inside of the window, turning to frost if cold enough.

How did that happen Len??

I understand that Pitt but how come nobody else in my drive had the same problem? I'm sure it's to do with an ingress of water into the car!

Do a search for leaky Fabia door seals. Plenty of info about it.

ooops I didn't realise leaky doors were a problem with the Fabia. Perhaps if you had a Mazda the problem would be resolved.:D

I saw VRStu's guide on repair. He refers to an HHC 506 750? Where would I obtain this. Anywhere on the internet or just a dealer?

Thanks, Jon

I believe this to be a type of silicon sealant. I don't see why you couldn't use an alternative product, from a normal hardware store.

Flippin' heck - it's like going round in circles with this one!

Search anyone? :)

Ok, I came out of work tonight, it hasn't rained all day, all foot wells are all dry yet my front window is still frozen on the inside :( I've put a bin bag over the window for the night, see if that helps :P

How did that happen Len??

Well Steve, it looks like I tried to get too many keys in the key cabinet

All windows down and a very wet interior :(

The main problem has been the low teps of late and the climate control not cutting in

to clear it.

Combined with that, and taking wet carpet remnants to the tip, it has has taken a while to get back to normal :)

My girlfriend's having this trouble and her doors were fixed about 6-9 months ago. They're not wet and she's got the ice on the inside of her windows. Nothing on the inside of the two new vrs's.

Correct.

All carpets etc dry and we have had this problem - just down to the weather (in most cases) .

Which is compounded by the fact that the air con doesn't kick in when the outside temperature in under 4 deg C which means the air inside the cabin isn't being dried out either.

The binbag over the front window worked, but only for the outside :( the inside was still frozen. So tonight its getting a binbag on the inside...

Hope the bin men don't take it away :P
