BHP/Torque with vagcom

Featured Replies

Ive tried search, but couldnt find it on here. Someone did post about a month ago which screen etc you need to go into to get to the power reading where you can get a torque/bhp reading but need to do it in 3rd gear?

I did save it in a txt file but lost it last weekend when the computer packed up.

Cheers in advance!!

cheers stu, i might get round to actually doing it before xmas providing the roads de ice abit. ;)

Ive done a quick try with this stu and used the sheet posted above, ive got 142hp. ok the car wasnt entirely warmed up, it was a case of driving 5 minutes to a disused industrial estate and boot it in the limited space i had. I know when it had a few k on the clock (and a few months old in the summer) it did nearly 145bhp on the JKM rollers. How accurate is this calculation with the spreadsheet?

Cheers

I would say that was pretty close to me. Not bad at all.

I notice bearthebruce is reading so you may get some wise words from the experts.

cheers stu, so would i expect better in a well warmed up car in slightly warmer weather? what would be the best i should expect on a car with nearly 8k on the clock?

Probably somewhere near the manufacturers figures and what you saw at JKM.

ok.. its just it looks like its never gonna get up to manufactors figures, also looks like it be a waste of time to stick it on the rollers at JKM in the new year as it wont have improved or even reached the quoted level by the manufactors :(

try block 20 for a diesel

Tried it this morning using block 20, Clicked Log, once completed the run click on Done or something like that, got to work only to find that it didn't log anything ?? Does anyone have any ideas why it didnt log?

Has it not saved anything in the log file?

I'll have a go at this once I get my 17705 sorted!

Did you try just that block (i.e. the other 2 empty) and/or "turbo" button pressed

I will try it later too

When i have tried 3 blocks before it has not logged any.I usually only try one at a time.

nothing has been saved in the log file, it just tells me that logs will be saved there..

I only added 1 block to measure, block 20.

I'm going to try again on the way home from work tonight. I can't remember seeing a turbo button.

Done it on way home from work today

not using turbo

just block 20 in the top entry

its a mile out though

graph says 170 hp and 268 lb/ft

from a std TDI140 with pipercross air filter I WISH

ive got data though

Good luck Matt

I think it depends on what version of vag-com you have with regards to the turbo button,409.1 doesnt have turbo iirc.

Block 120 for me came in at 175bhp on a standard 180bhp engine, Not too far out.Third gear is usually suggested to be most accurate.

Have done it on the way home, turns out I didnt click the same button to create the log file :o:O

After 5 runs on block 020 in 3rd gear I get (average)

Max torque 410nm@2,200rpm

Max bhp 207bhp@3,600 rpm

I dont think this is a very reliable method of working out your cars power. I'm using vagcom 303.1

Mods to a 1.9 PD130

Generic remap

Pipercross panel filter

millers power sport4

Those are the convertions I used.. I have attached a word document with my 3rd run.

3.doc

I don't know then.looks a bit different to block 120

or maybe I'm just blessed with this car..

remember with this methode you are measuring the power at the flywheel and not at the wheels as a rolloing road would do

once the roads dry up i will try a run with the tuning box fitted
