0 - 60 mph...

Featured Replies

I don't know what Denis does in his spare time.
My wife would like to know the answer to that too! redface.gif

I made the quantum leap from crystal set to Yupiteru scanner quite a few years ago. I had intended to use it to listen in to RAF aircraft operating from the 3 RAF bases nearby, but they were closed just after I bought it. The frequency coverage is 500kHz to 1650MHz, which includes just about every sort of radio transmission there is. Unfortunately it is not legal to listen in to most of them, so the scanner sits in the middle of the mantlepiece in place of the retirement clock I didn't get. (And the tooth fairy is coming tonight to issue me with false teeth............) :rofl:

mmss40.gifBTW, what is this thread about? Ooops, my 4X4 does 0-62 in 9.3 seconds, which probably equates to 0-60 in about 7.9 seconds......if that helps. :D

Time to take the dog for a spin........dogup.gif

:rofl: Now that is the funniest thing you've posted Denis. :rofl:

Dream on!

vRS owners aren't the only people who can boast, although they are most of them! :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

Time to put the dog to bed.....dog.gif

At least the boasts are not during REM and are the truth. :D

But then we RS owners understand such sinicism or could it be jealousy either way it's your problem. :D

And while I'm at it, 'crystal set'???

Only the Skoda has a "crystal set." Basically a lame attempt by me to try and convey just how rubbish I think the reception is. Mentioned it to the garage - "Oh, reception round here is very bad." S'funny, sounds fine in wifey's Puma. The one truly bad thing in what is otherwise a superb good value fun car. It's the one spot where you can tell they saved the money.

(Oh, and the silver mesh seats - not great for a car that's often used to haul bits of carbon/graphite between Norton & Stourport.)

Totally agree Stefan - had an (old) Mondeo before and the radio reception was absolutely streets ahead of the "Symphony" radio. I was going to take it in to the dealer as I had decided there must be something wrong with the aerial but guess i'll have to put up with it if it is a general problem. :(

Sorry have no idea what my 0-60 time is as don't have any proper measuring gear.

I find the reception on my vrs' radio to be okay , but I only ever listen to it for a few moments on a Saturday afternoon to find out how many Sunderland are getting beat by , then I switch back to the CD in disgust!

Wouldnt you be better with a cassette with the anouncement of a 2-0 loss be far easier and less hassle....at least you know the score already to there loss ( but then all you need to know is that they lost again...as usual :D )

Cheers

(ps up the reds)

Kentish

You may be right there , but I may as well use the Radio once a week as never , otherwise it would be waste! :rolleyes:

I've given up bothering to find out. Made a change that the home team won at the Stadium of Light last night :)

I can see that one person in particular doesn't take me seriously. The difference between the 0-60 mph time for the 4X4 of 7.9 seconds, and the 0-62 mph time of 9.3 seconds is easily explained away. 0-60 is achieved using 1st and 2nd gears, followed by a leisurely change into 3rd which pushes the 0-62 mph time to 9.3 seconds. OK? wink.gif

Time to check the dog's 0-60 time.......dog.gif

Erm, give in - you can do this? Couldn't find it in my CD/radio manual & would love to do it. Is this on the standard vRS crystal set, or have you bought one with better reception?

(Would love to change it, but doubt Hertzlease would let me...).

I do find the tyre noise very noticeable on some of the surfaces between the WM & Oxfordshire (Esp. A417/419) and auto valume increase would cut out some of my "scary weave."

(Also, does anyone else's standard car manual switch into German partway through, or is that just mine?)

Stef

I agree you tyre noise is excessive I live close to the A419 concrete section nr Cirencester and hear you all the time :mad:

To set the feature you are talking about its on Page 20 of the radio manual it is called GALA

Select GALA in teh setup menu

use control Knob push button (1) to select the desired setting between 1-9

1=minimum effect

9=maximum effect

select the NO option to switch off the GALA function

Best of luck not tried it myself
