How can a Skoda make me feel like this?

Featured Replies

Had an absolute cracking drive into work today!

Traffic's really light because of Christmas so I for the first time since I've got the Furby I was able to properly enjoy driving it. Single lane, NSL road with straight, flat bits, sweeping bends with great sightlines, up- and down-hill gradients, roundabouts for a bit of speed variation and the odd lorry for diesel-powered torque-surge overtaking. One downside was I finally got to experience the understeery nature of a FWD diesel, it only occured on the roundabouts but to honest that was probably inpart due my over enthusiastic entry speeds and the fact the road was a bit damp.

It's not very often that roads around here are empty enough to get some real driving in like this morning and I'm counting down til I can get back out into the car again and drive.

I think I've just fallen in love with driving again.

:woohoo:

A rear ARB will sort out that understeer

Pretty much how I feel while driving it! Thumbs up and glad you're enjoying it :-)!

Please don't! I've just about got away with getting a PD160 intake and Pipercross filter this close to Christmas, I don't think a rear ARB will go down too well with SWMBO .

Also, if I get a rear ARB I'd then have to get other non-essential stuff like a remap, 312mm brakes, some Octy 17"s, uprated head unit and speakers, cupra splitter, sunset privacy glass, cruise control..... :D

Pretty much how I feel while driving it! Thumbs up and glad you're enjoying it :-)!

Cheers! It was good before but now I've had it on a interesting clear road it's great! I feel like I did back when I passed my test driving my *cough* Fiesta 1.4S *cough* :D

get the same feeling going to and coming from work every day.

It is a bit funny - but it's really a fun drive...

Cheers

It is a bit strange, on paper it just shouldn't work!

Front wheel drive, diesel and Skoda shouldn't be able to put the grin on my face that I've got there, but it's there!

every time I turn the key theres a smile on my face even the shortest journey makes me smile.

I forgot to add I did the trip in 14mins instead of the usual 17mins which is quite a difference for only a 9 mile journey :D

Yep - My commute this morning was good, although I still have to respect my clutch's bedding in time.... :(

I'm really going to enjoy it soon though.

I can't afford to drive my car quickly :(

 I have just looked at my fuel gauge and I don't think I'll be hammering it to often in the future, 160 miles and it's just over half a tank left :(

I'm on half a tank, with 200 miles gone...

I need a new job lol

thats what I'm getting to half a tank of mine.

Also just back from doing a few chores, i.e. a short drive, but still had fun! Did Hull to Hampshire and back this week and managed 480 on a tank, most driving done at 80 on the motorway - still, very good indeed.

Glad you like it! I've had mine for 30 months now and it still makes me smile!

I smile every time and I love every journey in it so far. I just changed jobs so I get to use it much more, but that also means I will have to replace it quicker and that choice is going to be very hard...

modify it and the grin just gets bigger and bigger, trust me:thumbup:

Are you talking about the 1.4S with the CVH engine - shame on you - I would have kept that information quiet, the Zetec 1.6Si was the same insurance group, roughly the same MPG with 400% better driving experience.

:-) Nine miles in fourteen minutes wow 38mph then?

You need to release the hand brake

 Now you can understand why I come across as a frustrated driver :D

I worked it out at an ave speed of 38mph as well and was shocked! I guess it's what you get for living down saff. ;)

That's where I am now, but what to replace it with?

I also need a bigger car now so I have been looking at the vRS Octavia II PD of course :D and a Mondeo ST TDCi which I really like the looks of, decisions, decisions :rubchin:

Maybe a Seat Leon ?
