Hi guys,

Took these off the other week and i've got to admit I think the wheels look better without them!

Mine were off colour and dirty and wouldn't scrub up. I was going to spray them black but lost one of them

Anyway, is there any disadvantage to running without them? Was going to get some black hammerite and give the actual nuts a quick lick over. (Just the bit you can see)

Ignore the discs, they go like that after using Autoglym clean wheels. Haven't gone for a drive yet... :P

Every car I've ever owned with 'decorative' nut covers (they're not usually very decorative anyway) I've taken them off and thrown them away at once. One day you'll have to fix a flat or something at the roadside and it will be cold and wet and you'll curse the air blue trying to get the things off.

Your locking wheel nut tool may be difficult to engage if you get paint inside the splines.

Richard thats what the removal tool is for, dead easy to remove them.

Was going to give the end a quick lick of black hammerite tho which should prevent the rusting. It'd be very thin so wouldn't effect the locking wheel nut. Plus i'm pretty sure some hammerite wont prevent it going in, it's only paint

I have got no further with me old hesitation prob other than putting my old n75 back on(the one which you borrowed) which made the car smoother but feels down on power with it.

I also bought some denso iridium plugs to try these blew 2 coil packs and iam now waiting for 4 new ones to be delivered so i can try em again.I doubt it will solve any problems but the old plugs were getting on a bit.I take it you have got no further?

Really hope you get it sorted, it's been going on a while now.

Haven't got any further myself, I just try and not change gear / lift off at around 3k... can get it smooth. There's still a problem but by adjusting my driving style a bit I can make it smooth.

Pretty happy with the car right now, not much on the mods table that'd be really worth it.

Maybe a s2000 stubby aerial and some aero wipers?

I bought my car without the nut covers, not had any issues with them going rusty yet....

I took mine off because they look awful. I haven't seen any adverse affects on the bolts so far, they looked dirty when I first uncovered them and they look the same now!

TBH I took all mine off and sprayed them with some halfords wheels spray.

IMHO they look better and blend in with the wheels.

Going to do the same with carolyns superb.

Didnt you paint the disk centres and edges a while back? I know you can get the black covers from Skoda.

Yep, painted the rear discs a while ago.

The fronts are new (in the pic), if I get some time tomorrow and it doesn't rain I'm going to get them 2 coats of hammerite around the edges + centre.

I think I'll probably just leave the caps off now.

My wheel nut covers are still in their sealed skoda plastic bag under the boot floor and have been since 1999. Ive never had any problems with my nuts going rusty!!:orb_nurs

Sorry to bring this thread up from the past, but where did you get those black bolt covers from? Only one's i can find are vw one's which are slighty different to yours.
