Do a search for map or tuning in the fabia forum and you'll find more advice / info than you'll know what to do with. ;)

Cheers

Dave.

If you think your vRS smokes now you cannot begin to imagine how much it will smoke with a tuning box fitted.

I would go with a remap and an improved intake system.

If you've not had it from new then it may be possible it already has been fettled.

well i havent had it from new so how can i tell if it has all redy been played with. ut i was bought from a skoda dealership so wouldnt have said it been messed with

Don't bet on it.

hmmmm.. so how can i check wat has been done and wat hassnt or isnt their any way off telling

get it on a rolling road for a power run , if its off its tits above stock its lost its virginaty already

Timing 0-60 is an easy way to tell, as is at what revs it runs out of puff....

What revs it runs out of puff - on the UK highway!!!!

No what you need to do rather than spend a fortune on a rolling road is to see if another vRS/Ibiza Sport TDI 130/Golf GT TDI 130/A3 TDI 130/ Toledo 130 TDI, Leon TDI 130. Polo GT TDI 130 and when you floor it in the same gear as the other driver all the way to the limiter you should be similar if your pulling away against more than one of the above then your car is played with and if so tell your ins comp asap otherwise your driving uninsured.

Yes - power will tail off after 4k rpm on a stock car, and go beyond this and keep pulling up to the redline on a remapped car.

Your suggestion of racing on the public highway was an offence last time I checked

Chris

You don't chip a VAG TDi, you always remap it, unless you install an interceptor tuning box.

The pro for the interceptor is that it's readily removable. The main con is that it doesn't do as good a job as a remap.

A good remap will change both the quantity and timing of the fuel injection, and remove any noise test or constant speed fuel economy test induced flat spots. OTOH it's not that easy to revert to stock, and it will cost more than a good interceptor.

Do not countenance a £10 Fleabay special, cos they're basically just a resister in a plastic box, and fool the engin into thinking it's always running cold and overfuelling as a result.

All of which said, I'd suspect a smokey PD has already been mapped.

Personally, being a derv driver :D Id remap! Definitely!

Isn't that how all tuning boxes for the PD engine work?

I've been told that the Dragon is a true interceptor, that is it reads the standard map setting, and modifies it off its own map.

And in answer to the OP's last query, for someone in Kent I'd recommend Impossible too.

I've been told that the Dragon is a true interceptor, that is it reads the standard map setting, and modifies it off its own map.

Not sure how the Dragon reads the standard map setting as it just plugs into a sensor and ultimately mucks about with the output to cause the ECU overfuels? It does have its own "map" which is just a look up table to know what value to put out for a given input value. This is how it gets round triggering the CEL which the cheaper resistor boxes do.

Chris

Ok. It's not installed where I'd been told, so clearly isn't a proper interceptor, since they need to attach to the ECU outputs.

Hello

We can do a custom-code for your fabia very smooth maps and there discounted at the moment!

Also The maps are switchable on the pd engines with vag com.
