Not stopped smoking have we?

And yet you have moved up the chain also. Do you feel the Skoda was just as well made as your BMW is now? If not, what do you think the reason might be ...? :rubchin:

I am afraid you seem to be under the misapprehension that I believe I have moved ‘up’ in the car world. Is the BMW better built than the Octy? Perhaps a little, but it is going in to the stealers in 11 hours time to have the boot lock aligned and there is an occasional stutter on the engine when changing up through the gears.:( It has only happened 3 times in 2,500 miles, but it is not a good thing I am certain and does not seem to be so much better than Skoda, even if you accept the engine is a very hi-tech piece of equipment.

I was going to buy an X-Trail 173DCi until I made the mistake (joke) of testing the 123D and I was blown away by the engine (so hopefully you can see I don’t buy cars to ‘move up’). Is the engine better than an equivalent VAG 2.0 TDi, in my opinion, yes and by some margin. But that is the only thing that really stands out about the car as being comprehensively better than the Octy.

Is the Dealer service better than Skoda? Well so far David Homes have been very punctual and courteous and by tomorrow I should have an idea as to whether they are any good at fixing their motors (well, aligning a catch:D)

Did I buy to move up? NO! Do I think Skodas are great cars? YES!:) Sadly they don’t currently build a car that floated my particular boat:(, but as Audi is soon to release their own 200BHP 2.0TDi, we will have to see if I move back to VAG (Skoda if Possible) in a couple of years time.:)

Oh and I think Loz is totally correct when she talks about her stuff being treated with respect:thumbup:

a mate of mine used to work for a boat yard selling and maintaining big flash speed boats and some of the staff used to 'test drive' them all......that was until one was smashed and one owner saw his boat out on the water as he was driving home...it was only in for minor work and shouldnt have needed a 'test drive'...end result....staff in court for criminal damage and theft then sacked!!......

k

Bloomon’ car needs a reprogramming of the ECU! Takes all day apparently. Didn’t have this with my Skud, but BMW did wash and valet the car, even though they were just meant to be adjusting the boot catch.

Can I say something now? On the original subject?

:D

"New Road, High Wycombe" was the place. It's urban, 30mph and has several static cameras. It allows stuff to bypass HW town centre for travelling A40 West or West then North. E.g. Princes Risborough, Aylesbury. It's also links several areas of shopping, enterprise and business parks and passes close to HW footy ground, Adams Park. It's also quite hilly in places.

Service manager guy I spoke to was well apologetic. Apparently the car was out to be cleaned after being fixed. The cleaners is near to ASDA. i.e. the other end of New Road. Apparently "lots" of people have been done by cameras/scamera vans on this road.

You would think they would know not to speed along that road if it's a renowned hot spot for speed checks

Whether it's a hot spot or not, they shouldn't be speeding in a customer's car full stop.

As for the hot potato of Skoda brand image - I'm on my third Octavia with about 250,000 miles travelled overall. the biggest problem I've had is a new EGR valve. I was given an Octavia courtesy car for the day and they couldn't have been more polite to me.

If the new Superb has a good diesel engine (2.7TDI) and an **** end resembling an estate then that will be my 5th Skoda if you include our vRS.

Also- why do ex Skoda owners stay on this forum just to slag the brand off?

Not aimed at anyone in particular but I just wonder why do it?

I was a long time member of a popular Nissan forum but once I got shot of the dismally unreliable P12 Primera I didn't hang around slating the Nissan brand all day long :)
