how is it connected to the electrics?

  • Author

what make guages do you guys have there seem to be so many on the market?

Si, there was a thread on this recently.

  • Author

yeh ive done a search but ppl show what they got but not tell what makes they have

The one on mine was an Auto-Meter Sport Comp, which has now been replaced with a Pivot, the same as the one Des has on his picture.

If you want the Auto-Meter one in the picture of mine, then give us a pm, as its just doing nothing on the shelf.

(now have a vRS badge on though ;) )

Wow, that looks like a neat install.

How did you plum it in, did you have to take the steering wheel apart? :o

i meant which wires did you tap into and where are they located?

Either behind the light switch or go direct off the fuse box.

  • Author

how do you take the light switch out?

Push it in and turn it to the left, it will then pull out.

awesome your the man

No, awesome are in Manchester..........LOL

I cant help you there, as it were fitted when i got the car. (Owner was previously joel_vrs)

It's a unit that sits on top of the steering cowel, so doesn't look like the wheel came apart at all.

Only downside is, it blocks the centre instument display, i know Awesome do a similar one, but offset for the golf, not sure if that would fit the Octy.

that wont budge. were u having a laugh

No, thats how it comes out, try the switch in different positions, mine comes out that way every time.

  • Author

from which position do you take yours out?

  • Author

ive decided il do it tomorrow and spend a day on it

will remove the panel that its mounted on. my gauge seems strange as the boost pipe goes to the sender in the engine bay then spilts into 3 wires that come into the cockpit to meet another 3 wires from the gauge
