boost gauge

Featured Replies

from which position do you take yours out?

Just been out to the car, turned the light switch to the first position, pushed the switch in turned it to the left and that released the latches that hold the switch in, it came straight out.

ive decided il do it tomorrow and spend a day on it

will remove the panel that its mounted on. my gauge seems strange as the boost pipe goes to the sender in the engine bay then spilts into 3 wires that come into the cockpit to meet another 3 wires from the gauge

Si,

What are the three wires for, all the boost gauges that I have seen or used only have the pipe form the gauge to the sender/T piece, and a live and neutral from the gauge to a power pick up and earth for illumination.

right mate. the gauge has three colours. black red and green.

reds suppose to be to ignition. black -ve green to sensor

the sensor has the pipe and 3 wires black red and white.

red to ignition black to -ve and white goes to green

Is this one of the blacked out face ones or an analogue type that I have??

If its a blacked out one, then I think it has to have a powered feed at all times, the analogue ones just use the power for lighting the unit at night.

If it is a blacked out one, then I can only suggest asking Stu, as he is switched on (No Pun intended) with car electrics.

yeh it requires a backlight illumination. i think i shud have gone for a bog standard one instead of a complicated mofo

cheers for the help anyhow

im no electrician or mechanic but like a good challange

Looks good up there.

Am looking to relocate mine as i hate it up in the middle.

thanks. i think i need to wire it up to a different power as it onlky work when i have the lights on which when summer comes will be a pain i the ****.

Thats how mine works, but due to it being a standard facing on the gauge it's ok.

Can you take a constant feed from the radio or something similar ?

The Black wire is earth.

The Red should be switched live

The White should be wired into the dimmer switch.

Thats how all mine are wired up if it help

Looks good.

I think it's time I had one fitted :rubchin:

just finished the install with thanks to angry dog and his t pieces.

just taken it for a test run to make sure all is well and its showing that im boosting upto 0.6 bar. is this about right for a stock engine?

Sounds about right Si.

0.6 Bar = 8.7 Psi

just been on a long run and it looks like there most have been sum air in it as it sorted itsself out and i boosted upto 1 bar easily.

Has it been remapped ?

1 bar = 14psi

Standard should be around 9psi

Si, are you still running a standard map??? If so, as Johnny said it should boost to around the 8 to 9 psi, but if your getting a one bar boost, then thats around the 15psi, which could be a sign of spiking and problems??

EDIT:- Johnny you beat me by a minute........LOL

EDIT:- Johnny you beat me by a minute........LOL

 :P

Just as a comparison, with the custom map on mine, i'm seeing 16-17psi.

 :P

Obviously i have far more time on my hands rather than doing my job ! :D
