Difference between RS and standard instrument

Featured Replies

Whats the difference between an RS instrument and a standard instrument ?

Are the needles in white light or green in an RS

How about the dials, green ?

Anybody have a picture of a TDI RS Maxidot instrument ?

All the same as across the range.

White needles, green backlighting.

Maxidot - no difference between TDI/TFSI or any other.

Are we talking Mk1 or Mk2? The needles in my vRS are white, but I had a courtesy Ambiente TDI the other day, and the needles were green?!

I changed my Dashpod from the standard Ambiente to Vrs style and can confirm:

The Ambiente Tdi dials and needles are in green. Also, the dials are graduated in little green tickpoints (like on a watch). The Vrs Dials have curved lines (again in green) against a silver backdrop.

The Needles are a sort of translucent white (and look much better IMHO)

Maybe we can get some photos to show the differences?

Its a Octavia II, if the needles are white when lights are on. Then its going to be a RS Maxidot i'm going to put in. :)

I'll try and stick a couple of pics up this evening, once it's dark!

Pic of 4x4 dash attached in case it's any help...

Both pictures from my car. I upgraded the original dashpod to a vRS maxidot one. My car is not a vRS, but the dashpod functions perfectly.

Now I like the vRS one - nice subtle changes, even the fuel/temp gauges look better!

How about these of my vRS taken this evening.

Note with the white needles they provide a backlit glow onto the dial; kind of eerie.

NB> central display is Maxidot.

I'm fairly sure that the needles illuminate white on cars with maxi dot and green with non maxi dot. I noticed this when changing cars last summer
