Someone's *got* to be paying more for their insurance than me, surely?

That seems alot for a Group 16 car. Im considering, transferring ownership of car into my mums name, and being the 2nd named driver.

Probably won't save you much as it'll still be rated on youngest driver, yourself.

Mines

640 pounds, 29, 2 years NCB, kept on drive, 10k per year, EH13 post-code, Axa.

I'm single, but adding my married sister to my insurance reduced the cost by 70 pounds!?

This would only work out beneficial if your mum had some NCB

to use on it (ie. if she put the car on an existing policy). Then

you'd still be penalised for being a "young hooligan" on a

sensible person's policy, but you'd get the NCB discount.

In the long term you're best building up your own NCB though.

Wouldn't recommend putting yourself as a second named driver, read about a case where someone had done this and the insurance company refused to pay up as the policy holder is supposed to be the main driver.

Hmm...that doesn't sound right by my experience. It's cheaper

if the policy holder is also the registered owner (or keeper - that

bit gets a bit confusing!), as they think you're less likely to

stack your own car.

With regard to the main driver - the declared main driver on

the policy must be the main driver (err...) but needn't be the

policy holder.

Basically, don't lie to your insurance company :D
