should i paint my roof black?

Featured Replies

my roof needs paint should i go white like the rest of the car? or black.

I fancy black to break it up but being a white octy would it look like a TAXI?

Hmm I would have said black, but i see what you mean. How about pillars black and roof white to give you the "floating roof" look, oh, and some tints all round.

Black could look pretty cool though. Any Photoshop experts around?

Have you got a sunroof.. if you have you are almost there anyway! I've seen a lot of VW enthusiasts doing the same thing, looks good IMO.

red and black chequered :)

i was thinking this, but then i thought maybe just do it in vinyl then can remove it if i dont like it, sell it etc, think it would look great on a white octy, just get a bonnet and rear spoiler to match lol :)

How about black with black pillars?

hatch or estate (sorry, combi!)?

personally, I'd stick with white. I used to have an Ambiente Combi (in that blue that looks OK when shiny clean but not when dirty). I added the Skoda black vinyl films on the B and C pillars and the difference was dramatic. Don't know if they are still available but they weren't dear - only cost about half what the local VX stealer wanted for just B pillar vinyls for the wife's Corsa!

Oh yeah - it also had roof rails too. Didn't look bad at all - just needed some decent alloys.

:D

I think it would look sweet if all the pillars were black too... and your wheels!

Vrsdale has a black roof on his red octy, theres pics somewhere on the site and i think it looks great, his is covered in black vinyl cos he wasn't sure if he'd like it,but he likes the look of it so he's getting it painted now,so just do the same and if you don't like it then its easy to remove :D

Red with black roof looks cool, but I think white with a black roof is very Taxi like. Several towns down here use white Taxis which have black bonnet, roof and hatch.

My car had a black roof from the factory :D but the rest of the car is black too

Audi tt limited edition has a black roof with black pillars, loooks good.

If your going to do it, do the pillars too not just the roof, otherwise i recon itll look too taxi

We my yellow one eventually gets to a spray shop to have the rear bumper refurbished, its having a black roof and spoiler to match.

Not sure about the pillars, front are easy as there is the obvious joint at the front wing, but as for the C pillars, where do you draw a line (as it were) at the rear wing?

I would try and get a nice curve from the rear bottom corner of the quater window around to the lower corner of the boot window...

OK what about a chequered mini style decal on roof??? anyone do a photoshop if i get a piccy up?

No, as above in some cities white cars with black roofs, bonnets and boots/hathc are the taxi colours. Don't do nayhting, don't try and 'Mini' it, works on a Mini but would look wrong on an Octavia. My advice, stick with white.

You should buy some of that carbon fibre look film and do the roof and bonnet :P

Here is my poor attempt in photoshop, and i know its the wrong shape octy but its the only white one i could find!
