Audi S4 wheels on Octy VRS - Opinions?

Featured Replies

With the huge amount sold and put on most Vag cars the quality cannot be that bad. I would very much doubt the quality is that bad a remapped Vrs would effect them. I am very happy with them and as stated if curbed can replace with out costing too much. My standard wheels all needed new tyres and that was dearer than these wheels to replace.

That is why I also changed my wheels, I needed 4 new tyres on my Elegance wheels and found I could buy a set of 2nd hand Audi wheels with 2 new tyres and 2 part used tyres 6mm tread, for less than I could buy 4 new tyres. This made it even cheaper than buying replica wheels.

I did think about the new RS4 wheels but the photoshop I'd done didn't make them look that good, although after seeing the real thing

If these are £400 new with tyres and my tyres cost over £350 where are the corners being cut? Use at your own risk IMO.

My tyres cost more than that again. They're obviously cutting corners on your tyres...

As stated tyres are Nangkang. If you boys wish to pay huge third party profit on your tyres fine. Personally i prefer to shop arround.

I think the people buying these will be cutting corners into ditches too. :thumbdwn:

with most places you can upgrade to khumos/toyos/yokohamas/mitchelin etc for an extra fee if you wish.

A mate of mine runs a mildly modded Toyota Aristo and swears by the Nexen N3000's. I've been out with him and the car does feel quite stable and they do grip really well for well over 300bhp in a rear wheeled battle ship.

Sometimes it's quite nice to try out cheaper makes of tyres, they can't all be that bad, surely.

Very rash statement to make for someone with zero knowledge on the product.

Well I think Ill put my faith in the best tyres available (proven) rather than some el-cheapo Nankangs thanks all the same. You need all the help with traction you can get.

Is it only me that thinks the original wheels on the vRS look best?

No, I like them too, they look awesome though when properly clean with the insides done/arches cleaned and calipers and disks looking spiffy. Finish off with Meguiars Endurance tyre shine and they look great. Always get people looking at them in traffic...:D

The original wheels are also lighter and stronger than most of the replicas you can buy from Rochfords or FleaBay.

I had the replica 18" RS4's on my Octy VRs and sold them and went back to the standard 17" OEM spiders, now painted anthracite.

I have had experience with them and would describe them as "the best way to spoil a decent car" try a decent set of tyres and you will know what I mean. The difference to grip levels is quite unbelivable.

Sorry i tend to agree aswell, you've only got 4 small hand sized patches of contact between you and the road,

I stuck a mini in a hedge years ago on cheepo tyres so i learnt my lesson.

Good tyres can still be cheap, Just for Info Some of these unknown names are cheepo brands of well known manufactures i'll see if i can get a referance list.

 .

Lex Dysia - No problem with turning or full lock.

Yes the standard tyres are not as good as Grade A tyres (which is where the cost is saved), but actually the grip is very good, they are a soft compound tyre and will probably wear quickly so I will get some better ones later.

My wheels were curbed badly and tyres worn so went this option.

Blanchie maybe it was not the tyres to blame for your off road excursion. You don't state how fast and circumstances of the incident.
