Nope - more stupid than that.

You know when you have an idea and don't realise how stupid an idea it is until after you start to carry it out?

You used the sunroof frame to mount a suspended, open-topped, in-car fish tank?

Sack them! :mad::mad::mad:

Whoops, misunderstood the title! Thought this was about moderators :o:O I'll get me coat............................

i lowered my 1.4tdi arosa and set off to london from bradford

to pick up some things for a friend found out after hearing a hissing and a loss in power that lowering it had caused the driveshaft to wear thru the lower boost pipe resulting in all the boost going missing ... 420 miles in a 1.4 3cyl diesel with no turbo and limp mode = longest drive of my life

There'd be none left:rolleyes::rofl:

Remap did my clutch in straight away, 312mm brake disc conversion judders, and I'd like to lower the car but I'm a bit scared!

Jacking up the back of the vRS to take both wheels off. Did one side and put an axle stand under.. no trouble.

Did the other but the jack lost grip and push the car over!!!!! The axle was on 2 legs and it bent it (2 tonne rated).

Lowered the failing side ASAP and got back to the other side. Had already taken the wheel off, it was SOO close to smashing down on the disc!!!!!!!!

I put a set of Cortina Ghia alloys on my MK1 Capri (god i'm old). I used the standard nuts from the steel wheels. Driving along the next day I was overtaken by one of my own wheels:O:O:O

When I got out to survey the damage I was surprised to find all four wheel nuts still on the car:eek: The alloy had simply slipped over the wheel nuts:rofl:

I take it that’s a really bad thing to happen:D

Capris are great:thumbup:

Had a Mk1 facelift 1600 fitted with 2000 engine - still one of the most fun cars I've ever had, as long as the gear lever stayed attached:eek:

Before that me and a mate bought a Triumph Vitesse to do up but couldn't be bothered in the end, just drove it round the block but were disgusted by the handling - right up till we realised we hadn't tightened any of the wheel nuts - not even finger tight:eek: I thought he'd done it and he thought I had:rolleyes:

A friend of mine sold me my first car (Hillman Hunter) and offered to do it up with bits from scrap taxis he had lying around (it was a former Taxi too but had a new engine). We put reclining seats in it and went for a test drive. I put my foot down and went flying into the back of the car (we hadn’t fastened the seat to its runners, well to be specific he hadn’t) but sadly my travelling backwards had and equal and opposite effect which was for me to put my foot down. So we shot up this lane with both of us lying horizontal staring at the roof. God knows how we didn’t hit anything and we must have looked a sight as no driver was apparent to the outside world. The other problem was, you don’t realise how hard you push back into your seat when you apply the foot brake and as we had no seat backs to speak of, we had to use the hand brake to drag us to a stop.

:orb_lol:

I would of paid to see that! :rofl::D

I used to have a CB radio in my renault 18 (I was 17, give me a break ;) , I also had a mullet...)

and I fitted "boots" ... i.e. an 80watt amplifier to the signal (standard was legally 4 watt max) and when I pressed "transmitt" it would wipe out all the televisions on our street! :P

I managed to almost run over myself when re-attaching a front bumper after fitting grille mesh. I had my hand up between the wheel arch lining and the bumper and put my other hand on top of the wing for some extra grip...unfortunately I hadn't put the handbrake on, so the car rolled forward onto my sleeve...and as I was stuck between the car and the garage wall, with about 10 inches in which to manoeuvre, it took a bit of time to get out of that one.

These are ace :rofl:

my m8 had one of those - had a porsche engine apparently, 5 cylinders and the like... dunno if true.... Anyhow the d*head paid 150 quid for a second hand set of seats, then realised they came from a 4 door Audi and so the front seats wouldnt flip up and no one could get in the back - kids eh....

Porsche had some involvement in the RS2 (which had a turbo variant of the 2.2 engine IIRC) but as far as I know it's an Audi engine.

Rob, class story!

Sounds like something I would do!!!!!!

Modified the brakes in my Vitesse - a Sunbeam Alpine master cylinder and Austin 1800 servo. A recognised mod - less pedal travel and servo assistance.

Unfortunately the seals in the servo were shot - it swallowed all the brake fluid and passed it into the inlet manifold.........................hence no brakes with no warning :eek::eek::eek:

I once put a full tank of petrol in my Lada then realised I'd doubled it's value. Still couldn't get anyone to buy it off me though...

Not really a mod but went to fill up brand new Talbot Samba, put about £10 in before I realised most of it was on my feet as filler pipe not connected:eek:

Similar story, my dads old Cavalier was a really slow filler, you had to dribble the fuel in otherwise it shut the pump off automatically. One day was filling his car up and this really fit girl walked past I was so intent watching her didn't realise the petrol was overflowing out the top of the filler pipe :o (and no that is NOT an euphemism!)

Talbot Samba!!! There’s a name I haven’t heard for a while. I used to think they were quite cute in their day.

A 1.0 LS was my first car 1984 A reg.

Mods to that were a 2 speaker Radio/Cassette. 2 spots and 2 fogs on the front and a Rev counter mounted on the dash.

Once did 550miles in a day in it :eek:
