Motorway Lights

HAS ANYONE GOT VAG-COM CODES TO TURN OFF MOTORWAY LIGHT FEATURE?

DAMN ANNOYING LETTING "OLD BILL" KNOW THAT I HAVE BEEN EXCEEDING 140KPH FOR A PERIOD OF TIME

I wasnt aware there was a feature,

When Leaving Home/Coming home/Light assist is fitted, one of the features of this is the named "motorway lights". Automatic lights on when exceeding 140 kph. Automatic off is when speed falls below 60 kph - correct me if im wrong on the last one...

Tip to splinter: If you're stopped and asked silly questions about speeding, answer that you forgot to turn the lights off. Or simply, in case of the odd speeding, turn our lights permanently on. Anyway, I doubt that anyone in a uniformed car knows about this feature.

But you don't exceed speedlimits

Me Speed??

I Just Changed From 245bhp Vrs Petrol To L&k 140 Diesel To Slow Me Down A Bit.

My Wife Refused To Drive Vrs And I Sold It Only 3 And Half Months Old

Lost About £3000

Ouch

I suspect one or two do now though....

Chris

Driving with your lights on does not constitute a reason to stop you nor does it prove you have exceeded 140kph. I drive with my lights on permanently so dont worry about it

I would gladly have taken your 3 grand and sped away with my wife in my new vRS...

Having the wipers on for a set period also brings the auto lights on.

I was following an unmarked C class merc this morning and I had my headlights on, did he pull me over?

Nope

If it really bothers you that much just flick the light switch over to the off position.

It's funny how many VAG cars you see on the motorway with headlights on in broad daylight :D

there is an option on vagcom for it, personally i drive with my lights on on the motorway to give people as much visibility of me coming so they cant use the excuse i didnt see you if they hit me ;0

Absolutely - HID's on all the time! They can't say that they didn't see those!

Same here! I use my headlights most of the time in the day, even in town.

.... and if the EU have their way we will ALL be driving on 'dipped headlights' 24/7 just as they do in Finland/Sweden etc.

Which is, from my point of view, a lot more reassuring. When I occationally drive in the UK, I'm constantly surprised that there are other cars about. HID's, at least those behind a projector lens, are on the other hand a little less visible than halogen at daytime. Probably because of cut off and light colour (daylight-like).

I use my fog-lights at daytime. They give the daytime-octy more agressive looks. This is ok in DK, i don't know about UK.

You can be pulled over by the police, in the UK (I was once, a long time ago) for using front fog lights when the visibility is anything but really bad.

I don't think that I have ever used them since.

Too bad. The reason for allowing them at daytime here, is that you save wearing on the parabolic reflectors (an old law - before projectors), which gets worn faster when constantly lights-on.

there is a way i beleive with vagcom to change the amount of power to the fog light to make them driving lights or something.

Anyway, I doubt that anyone in a uniformed car knows about this feature.

Anyone? ;)

Driving with fog lights when it's not foggy is a pet hate of the majority of coppers, mind you actually doing anything about it other than scowl involves putting in some additional effort that isn't likely unless really bored!

And with that there are at least two of us who know about it...

My vRS MkII came with the lights permanently on :D You can set them to parking lights if you want by turning the dial 2 notches. This will dim them. But when the lights are set to the off position they are actually on (dipped heads). Garage says all vRS's are coming in this way with what they call all day running lights. There is also an auto settings which the garage referred to as tunnel lights (turn the dial 1 notch) but this does not seem to do very much seeing as the lights are always on in the day. Have gotten a few dirty looks from drivers in the middle of the day allright.
