xenons

Featured Replies

could these be fitted to a fabia sport 07 plate??:thumbup: dave:thumbup:

I hate xenons... Looks like someone flashing me all the time. Sure the light is nice and bright, but they gotta sort out the flawed system.

i just seemed to take a fancy to them last night after i was pulled over by a police vectra wich seemed to have them on, just to say it was a routine stop.i wasnt i trouble, i thinks theyd look cool on a black furby meself

You could fit them yes, however it is strictly speaking - illegal to do so.

What I have been wondering though is there are a few new cars out there (i.e. new Civic, Volvos) that use the old style reflector system, and not projectors from the factory - with Xenon bulbs.

So if there are new cars out there using this, why cant a properly adjusted kit from HID's4U work? they seem the best solution to retrofitting Xenons, rather than these cheapo kits available.

Can anyone shed any more light on this?

why is it illegal? im not up on laws etc, tbh im pretty useles.lol

was just after the kinda blue light effect they have without fitting non legal bulbs.

OEM's fitted to a Fabia are brilliant as are most OEM xenons. It's the retro fit kits fitted to headlamps never ment to have them fitted to them that cause the issues.

This a well covered topic but here is the link you need;

Although a bit dumbed down this also explains a fair bit;

Just because they are"older" style reflector headlamps doesn't mean they haven't been designed around the Xenon bulb.

No kit comes with "Adjusters". This would refer to a self leveling system fitted to the car. If the kit included thatyou would be looking at £1000's not £100's for some chavvy lights.

Get some Philips BlueVisions. Sounds like they are the effect you're after.

I have the factory fitted one's on mine and there more "white" than the aftermarket ones my mate has on his :thumbup:

his are a bit more blue and not as bright ;)

I had some xenons fitted to my fabia headlamps and tbh I wouldnt reccomend it the vision was great but they were too bright for oncoming drivers and just another thing to worry about at MOT.

Are we talking about aftermarket kits or swapping normal headlights for the factory xenon lights?? If so I'm interested to see if these facotry can be fitted afterwards?

Are there any companys that produce aftermarket headlamps for the fabia (projector). I saw some on here a while ago but i cant a linky to them. Surely this would be a better solution to those wishing to fit Xenons? I know its still not legal, but surely a damn sight better than using the reflector units? And would look OEM too.

They only seem available in LHD

Of course they can but it would cost the wrong side of £1k to retrofit factory Xenons.

Unless RHD ones are available then I think I will stick to my Philips X-tremes, which are very good for halogens, must be said and only £25!

That's a punn and a half LOL.

I also agree, they look good on the black Furby.

Furby headlights are the best I've had on any car and I struggle to see any justification for HID's. The fact that they're either illegal if cheap, or expensive if legal just deters me further. If you really need more light then Philips Extreme's are a worthy upgrade. However, to spend a small fortune changing something for no other reason than 'they'd look cool' is puerile. If you need a blue hue either get some crappy ch@v Bluevisions or wear some of these when you look at your car....

I have to agree that the Fabia's headlights are absolutly great as standard from the factory, when SWMBO bought her fabia I tried to persuade he to get xenons but the sale's guy told her to save her money and the normal headlights were great and I'm glad we didnt bother now.

The OEM Xenons are amazing (When adusted properly) and I miss them sorely on my Roomster despite it having "uprated" bulbs. They are so much better than the standard headlamps so you can imagine how good they are.
