225/45 tyres are rubbing.

Featured Replies

Last week i put on 4 new tyres, moved up to 225/45x17's on my Mk1 vRS.

I know that a lot of people have rubbing on full lock, but mine seem to be rubbing when not even on full lock.

More noticable when reversing out the drive as i'm on more lock than i would be out on the road.

At the moment it's on standard springs/shocks, i'm just worried that when i come to put my coilovers back on they're going to cause havoc.

I'm presuming it's just the inside edge that's catching.. so would a set of spacers do the trick ?

Or will they settle down once they have some miles under their belt ? (only done about 300 miles)

Not sure mate. I got 225/40R18 on mine (not sure if the OD is the same, on coilovers and with no rubbing at all. or spacers. Its even got all the mud guards fitted still :)

Not std wheels and i dont know the offset.

Most odd tho.

Regards

Garry

P.S - Got my Splitter today (£17.50 from SEAT. Will fit at the weekend and make a how too guide, could not see one on here with pictures :) )

Nice one Garry. Ta for that.

Not sure why they're rubbing though, will pop a wheel off at the weekend so i can see how much it's rubbing.

Good news on the splitter...look forward to seeing it on. :)

Mine are fine with the KW3's ;)

I do get a little on full lock but if anything thats gone now the KW3's are fitted?

Well i've just ordered my new Coilover springs from the states this morning (got the wrong ones last time) so they'll be a few weeks, then need to arrange to get them fitted after that !

Johnny, I have 225/45 on my S3 rims and get no rubbing whatsoever.

Feel free to have a nose around at the urban meet on Friday.

No issues here either

No rubbing with my 225/40/r18's either chief.

Edit - thought you were getting rid of it for a bedford rascal anyway?

I've no problems either, Johnny. Must be you ;);)

Get the wheel alignment checked and see if they still rub afterwards.

No rubbing problems here either

hi ive got 225/40/18s fitted to mine, fronts dont rub but over bumps with more than 2 people in the backs catch the the bodywork where bumper meets

It's going in on friday to get 4 wheel alignment. ;)

It's not causing any hassle, just wondered why it's only one side.

Not to worry..will all be sorted soon i hope.

Steven...i work next door !

Pop in for a chat

i got 225 40 18 (et35 wheels) on and no catchin at all unless i got 3 ppl in the back. then the rears catch the arch liners.

i learnt after frst time s only me n the lady go in her now lol

It's only when reversing...and just the slightest of noise.

I'm not too worried about it, as it's fine even if the suspension is under load, think it's possibly just the arch liner not sitting right.

I get this 25032008158-1.jpg

only on the passenger side arch on full lock
