Right, after much reading and research, here is what i'm planning on buying within the next few weeks.

Although any product you feel i could swap, or deem unnecessary please say.

I already have SSF, so what i'll be buying is the following.

Wash - CG Citrus wash 'n gloss & Megs APC

Clay - Sonus green (although not decided what lube)

Polish - AG SRP

Sealant - AG XGP

Glaze - Megs # 7

Wax - CG Petes #53

Products will only be used on Black Magic, and by hand unfortunately. :(

Sound ok ?

Personally I'd swap the caly for the bilt hamber one as it uses water as the lube saving you buying any lube.

SRP is good to hide marks.

In place of the EGP I would personally use turtlewax gloss guard as it is the same stuff but cheaper.

Glaze, I'm not sure how well it would si over the sealant to be honest so I'd just put a couple of coats of sealant down then either 2 coats of colli 476s or dodo etc.

Muchos thanks Mr.

Thats what i'm after..may end up buying everything like that and trying things out till i find something i'm happy with. :)

If you are anything like me, you buy loads and loads of stuff, finally achieve the finish you want, but forget which stuff you have used, and have to try all over again, but never get the same result....

Bah!

Or buy it, and just never get round to using it, doing a garage clear out in a year, and it all goes in the bin ! :D

The Megs #7 won't sit on top of the AG EGP, it will just wash off. Maybe jsut best to go with SRP and then EGP as gthe are both Autoglym products and will bond well together (aaaah!)

Depending on what you want to spend, I find Carlack 68 and Jeffs Werkstat are a good combo.

Hmm, interesting, on detailing world it was recomended in one post to use (if wanted) #7 on egp.

Maybe it was the other way round, on top of srp then glaze ?

I'm not usually correct !: D

Ta Mr. :)

WTF is all that about

Something you should be taking note of MR

You gunner keep the octy clean then? :P

The sealant won't sit on the #7 but the #7 should sit on the sealant and under the wax just fine.

Carlack/Classee All In One are very good and ScoobyChris has just got some of this with the Colli476s to use on his fiat.

I have a swissol kit for decent waxing sessions.

What else do i need... mitts, buckets, wash stuff etc

Colin,

I would suggest :

- Very light clay bar + lube if the car is drity as a one off.

- 2 buckets

- A noodle MF mitt or lambswool mitt.

- A drying towel.

- CarLack All in one or AutoGylm SRP plus EGP or plus TW GlossGuard as a sealant.

This is because it lasts longer and we know how often you did it on the furby :P

- Wax of your choice (Swissol)

Hose + foamer or a pressure washer and a foam lance makes it all a bit easier.

Look up 2 bucket method if you want to keep the paint swirl free :)

Good choices but wouldn't bother with the glaze or wax^^..saving you time and money but with the same results.

SRP & EGP are a great (and underated) combo and you only have to top up with multiple layers of EGP as/when you see the protection/beading diminish:thumbup:

If you'd rather have a wax as LSP instead of the EGP then you can't go far wrong with Collinite or Dodo juice for reasonably priced products:thumbup:

And where can i get all this stuff from at good prices? :D

Just check out A world for detailers... and have a look at the traders on there..........

I have bought things from most of them now and always receive good service from Elite Car Care, Cleanandshiny, Clean your Car and Car Wash n Wax...........

You can also get some bargains in the GB and Sales section.......

Clean you car aren't a million miles away from me Colin, if you want to save on postage, and pick up at the next Malt House meet.

Elite Car Care are good

Personally I like the wax over the sealant as it gives a nicer look to the finish IMHO.

Agree with you there mate................

Thanks again for all the input guys.

I've got a mammoth task ahead of me to get the Fabia swirl free by hand, but i'm confident it's gonna look ace when finished.

Moving onto the interior....

Any suggestions ?

Funny you should ask. As I took the back seats out the other day I decided to give the interior a clean.

I gave it all a good hoover and then used Tesco APC (expensive at 27p :D ) Was impressed with tyhe results. For the seats I applied using a microfibre cloth and tried to dry using another microfibre cloth. I hoovered them before and after.

For the mats again applied using a microfibre cloth and then hoovered them with a brush attached.

Was really impressed with the results. Think next time for the seats I'll get some sort of interior brush for applying the APC.

Good look trying to get rid of the swirls by hand. A G220 makes life much easier :P

I know, if i had the money, and a bit more confidence, i would save and buy a G220, but i really aint got a clue when it comes to different pads etc...

Think i'll stick to doing a panel or 2 a night with SRP & AGP.

If you bought one you would just learn over time like I have with the UDM.......to be fair though if you improve your wash process to a sensible standard then you only really need to mop the car rarely...........

If you've got time and are only doing a couple of panels at a time then Davekg (I think thats his user name on Detailing World) did a test layering SRP with amazing results. I've layer it before and it made a huge difference to hiding the swirls.
