when i had my 4x4, i put it onto h&r springs and a set of r32 arbs front and back, the difference was like night and day!

I had H&R springs on my 4x4 for a while but found them too low and hard for my liking (must be getting old).

lol, they were firm to be fair, but sooooo much better than original

well bugger, the 4x4 I was seeing tomorrow is no longer for sale as the owner can't find a replacement that he wants for it, shame as I had got the cash out the bank this morning!

so the search starts again

these bloody octavia's are a right pain, kinda like me with all my questions,

whats the score on the Laurin & Klement edition, is it like the 4x4 (obviously without the 4x4) with essentially the same de-tuned 1.8 turbo as the vrs?

hopefully soon I can stop asking questions and just get a car!

cheers

yeah its the same engine as the elegence but i wouldn't so much call it detuned as thats not really right its just a different tune as the same engine/turbo combo is used at various power levels, i think they are 150/163/180/190 and probably a couple more too, but all are simply different maps :)

so yes the L&K gets the same engine but with things like leather, different alloys, xenons etc.

keep looking for the 4x4, you wuold probably lower the l&k and put bigger brakes on it anyway so I would personally spend the time looking for the 4x4 for the traction.

I used to live next but 1 to a brisky member with an octi 4x4, Revo remap, 312mm brakes, KW Variant 1 coilovers and I had a octi mk1 vrs with jabba remap and blueflame exhaust. he left me standing from a standstill and I struggled to catch him up. the 4x4 is great for the sleeper effect and he was even kind enough to laugh at me when it snowed as he drove past me when I couldn't make it up the hill in the snow.

current thinking is ideally a 4x4, followed by a VRS, then the L & K,

just wish I could find one, went out on the motorbike at the weekend and managed to snap the footpeg off, so the misses is giving me a lift to work at the moment :(

my old mg bgt is minus seats and interior waiting for a roll cage so can't even use that!

that red 51 plate one looks good.

waiting to hear back about the red one, and found a 51 4x4 estate that I am gonna give a call about after I get home. 200miles away but sod it, happy to drive for the right car

i drove from oxford to kent to get my octavia, when i bought mine there were only 2 of them on autotrader, fairly rare as they had only been out 2-2.5 years but i found mine for £5500 with about 80k on it so it had done plenty of miles but ran fine :)

you only do the trip once or twice not everyday.

Yup me too, drove to Banbury from York for the Avant.

at the end of the day itll be worth it if the cars right. also see if theyre any other cars on way or near by to look at.

i traveled from bicester to manchester for mine and glad i made the decision to go that far in the end.

well off to manchester at the weekend, hopefully, to see a octavia 4x4 estate, white, ex police, 80K on clock, 04 plate, fingers crossed.

white isn't my first choice, but car before colour!

thing to remember is white looks really good when kept clean and will stand out compared to most other cars these days. white wheels FTW!!

dark on white is good, white on white looks odd i think.

had a set of 18inch brabus black wheels on my white vito, with black tinted windows and that looked damn good.

I loved that van :(

Mines in the bodyshop shortly for its presale tidy up, you can have any colour you want & 350 bhp to play with ;);)

Re the ex plod one check the rear springs, they have a habbit of breaking on all 4x4's as sometimes do the front ones & with hard use & heavy loads this might well have suffered the same fate. Other thing to check on all Octys is the Air con, if it dosent work it could well be the clutch falling off of the aircon compressor, a very common fault but big bucks to fix, at a dealer you are looking at over a grand but s/hand & reconned pumps are reosnably easy to find

cheers for the info, would love yours, but unless you want to knock 7K off the price then its too rich for my blood: :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Are there any interior differences between the 4WD and vRS?

I have seen plenty pics of the leather interior in the vRS but I have yet to see pics of a 4x4's interior.. is it the same?
