Just a quick hello to you all!

I picked up my lovely new red Octavia vRS Estate on Friday.

Lovely car, but I'm having trouble keeping my right foot in check for the first thousand miles. 883 to go...

Hi Rob.

You'll soon be able to suffer from lead foot.

Welcome, RobClubley. If you haven't got cruise control fitted, you can get it retrofitted by our resident big k.

Hi Rob,

Welcome to Briskoda.

Hi Rob,

Welcome to the site.........

That first 1000 miles soon disappears, trust me, then the engine just gets better the higher the miles get!!!

Welcome to the forum Rob.

Welcome, will keep an eye out for you in Leeds.... (work over there once a fortnight)

(and if you fancy a run out, we're having one on the 3rd July, check the northern meets section, not too far from you)

Loving the car... need to go somewhere at the weekend and get a few miles on it. :P

The cruise control sounds very tempting - I nearly went for that as a factory option. How does it work? Are they proper Skoda controls and bits? How long a job is it?

Also I've been reading lots of stuff on this site about induction kits and replacement air filters. I'm very tempted to replace the filter, more for a bit of extra induction noise than the power :D

What I can't find is a comparison of the benefits of a free flow filter versus a full induction kit. Obviously a filter is an easier fit, and the induction kit looks much cooler. But how will the dealer regard me pulling the airbox out of a new car? How much difference does it make to the engine sound? Does the induction kit sound louder/better?

German, Swedish & French are just around the corner from me in Leeds and they do the full 57i induction kit for 76 + VAT.

It might have to wait a month or two though 'cos the wife might object now she's seen the amount of the monthly payments :D
