Rob

its in the garage at the moment i aint got a chance to get there its just outside of town.

having been in this situation i would probably fix it myself if i had the chance as the difference it'll make if you don't protected NCB is quite a lot sadly as they hit you from 3 directions :(

Oh mate :( Sorry to hear this but glad you're ok :)

Hope it gets sorted asap with a minimum of fuss.

Sorry to hear about your crash , are your mods declared to the insurance?

its been taken to an impound the rac didnt come and tow me back... the muppets. im with barclays and have a student account wich had rac cover!!:(

Is it RAC breakdown cover you have though?

A lot of people are not aware that an accident is not covered on some breakdown cover.

The Insurance won't replace your RS bumper with a new one either most likely just with a normal bumper.

I'd buy parts needed myself, get them welded on and painted at a local body shop. The wheel might just be a bend track rod end or similar so I think you will be lucky.

Total cost will about £500 and your insurance excess plus increases will cost more than that.

yeah i phoned them up last year about them:) about the brace anyway the othr bits are skoda accessories. so they didnt need to be noted they told me. anything that increased the performance of the engine needed to be noted but other than that its fine.

is that whats griding when i drive? its quite a fat rod thats bent.

Could be a driveshaft but I'd be surprised. Probably the large triangular bit or another rod that connects the wheel to the chassis. Get a place to check for suspension damage too.

Really isn't worth doing an insurance job for that little though as you are quite young.

haha that drive shaft isnt even a year old! :( well i guess when i got my quote. i dont know what else to do as its not driveable over 10 miles an hour.

i can park it on the side of the road. but my insurance comp aint going to tow it for me where i need it to be checked out?

I've got no where i can go do the work myself well bodywork i can just bolt on and replace but the other bits i dont have a clue on how to fix! im a bit stuck... suggestions?:o

Find a local indy garage and ask them to check the wheel & suspension for damage and quote you for parts and fitting.

Once that is fixed and any risky body work is bent and gaffer taped out of the way you can then probably drive it to body shops at sensible speeds (50ish).

Worth popping a who knows a good body shop in my area post too.

is the grinding noise a constant thing or is it more of a tang tang tang that goes with wheel speed?

if its constant then it could be a track rod but if its not then it'll be the driveshaft i'd say.

Does it look like any of those parts either?

There is the console etc that will be duffed too if you broke the driveshaft.

the whole drivers side of the car bounces up as the wheel rotates. like a limp. the griding noise is a griding noise as the bar rotates or what ever it is it catches on the chassis or something that lifts the car up, and then car does a horrible shivver when its started.... i aint had a chance to go see it. ill try and get there tomorow

it looks simular to that one. i know its black!

What the big thing with the two rubber gaiters on it?

If so that's your driveshaft.

I'd definitely take it to an indy to fix that before moving it anywhere significant.

I'd try a breakers for a second hand one to save on costs.

is it any different to engines? or are they all the same?

oh edit! ill know what needs to be fixed once it gets assesed anyway right?

so then i can go throught a list of stuff that needs doing even if i dont proceed with the claim?

I don't know but just seen the 1.9 listed at £200

Seriously let the garage tell you what is bust before you buy parts. If you have bent a drive shaft you have bent other bits too.

yeah it was a 400 job last year at a skoda garage:eek:toook a massive chunck out of my student loan!

i was meant to start my supply teaching work next week too! but with no car im screwed to getting to these schools around hte area.

If you have bent a drive shaft you have bent other bits too.

not really, i bent a driveshaft on my octavia without bending anything else.

it hit the inner arch when i over compressed that corner hitting a round about.

sorry to hear of your woes :( best of luck for a painless as possible fix, glad your ok

If you're looking for used parts, i'll dig round our customers and see what they have. :)
