Seriously have you priced up how much it would cost to do yourself fusing second hand parts?

Second hand driveshaft and other bits not too bad, second hand wing and bonnet, not too bad, respray £300 tops, labour £150-200, you have the old bumper.

T-Cut etc the sides so it blends in and live with it. You never know the body shop might fix it in the cost of the respray anyway.

That is going to be less than the excess.

Wheels, live with them for now and refurb them when you get a chance.

getting just a bumper done cheap is £100 let alone the whole front end and one side, more like £5-800 worth of paint let alone the fitting. a drive shaft costs about £150-£200 on exchange let alone buy a new one and his car needs a wing, bonnet, bumper, crash bar, light, drive shaft and god knows what else so sorry to hear it Leon but i'm really not surprised at the outcome.

Maybe you should take the 3.5k try and get as much out of the car as possible and be done with it. Sad though. :(

Once you have all your gear flog it, and combine it with your 3.5k, then save up abit more and try and pick up a cheap 03 Plate vRS.

Where are you getting the paint quoted?

He has the old bumper so that doesn't need a respray and a bonnet/wing respray the body shop I have used many times said £300 for a fiesta which is of a similar size. Even better if he could pick up wings in the same silver and then just get it dealt with at a later date. The side scratching I could live with, I'd just tidy it up and again look at a later date.

Drive shaft I hadn't included, but I can see them for £200 new, and I would think a lot less from a breakers. It all comes down to how perfect he wanted to get it.

Good enough so he still has a car without the claim would have made sense. I'm not surprised the insurance wrote it off as every body shop I know has a regulars price, a normal persons price and an insurance price.

To be honest from what he said to me on MSN, I'd rip their arm off if they are offering 3.5k and just make sure you/your mum can collect your items.

i phoned NU yesterday. dont take the car til i get my personal belongings out.

i phone the police yard this morning, dont let them take the car until i come over today to get all my belongings.

so they said all my stuffwill be posted to home. it would of cost me less to get my mate to drive me over and pick all my stff up!

Never know you might be able to get some spare parts from said breakers, get it fitted and carry on driving the car with some of the insurance money left over.

Sure it would have write off on the V5, but as long as it's been properly reapired and I'm guessing only a D, it might be worth looking at. Would certainly be cheaper than getting a new motor or a similar spec.

at the moment we're just waiting on the insurance comp to get in contact with the finance comp.

i've lost my best freind in a way. but i dont think i have the patience to get it repaired. i need a car its already ages to try and sort this stuff out. plenty more car for projects ou there. ****e happens!:(

we got half of out stuff back, they payed the finance company the sum of cash...

it was very rushed. they should of just let me take my stuff out in the 1st place that company is rubbish!:mad::thumbdwn::(

When my astra got wrote off, they carted it off

examined it and told me it was going to be written off.

I did get some stuff out of my car when it was stored at one place and then got the rest when it was carted off to the proper yard and i think thats where I had to hand in all the documents etc...

As Johnny says contact the yard where your car is.

Thats your best bet, but if they're ebaying it then whatever you left might not be there now.

You'll find the car is probably sitting in their yard for sale too, not just on Ebay, so all items will have been removed.

Although they should still have them, they just wont be in the car.
