FMIC Fitted

Featured Replies

Looking really good! A proper motorsport look to it

It would be a long drive but we have soft ware specifically written for the cars with Forge FMICs

What does this mean, more bhp?

Looking mean, nice work

I want one. So that I can get up to 250 bhp on the K03s turbo and generic remap :D:D

Looks good.

Iam still waiting for someone to try an Ebay FMIC as the forge is a little out of my price range at the moment.

They weigh quite alot apparently.

frankly you're better off with something designed for the job.

I want one. So that I can get up to 250 bhp on the K03s turbo and generic remap :D:D

good luck!

i am still thinking about doing this :rubchin:

i think i'd paint my intercooler black though :D

If you are serious about painting it black, please don't, it will reduce the thermal efficiency of the core.. :)

but will it?

black(or more accurately darker colours) only absorb more energy from light which in turns becomes heats, not from other heat sources.

and also by painting it satin black will give it a rougher surface and therefore have a greater surface area and "catch" more air :D

it might actually make it work better :P

cypher industries

:D

I want my car to remain a sleeper/stealth. Can I paint or anodize my intercooler so it is not easily visible?

Yes! It is not uncommon at all for an intercooler and endtanks to be anodized black to keep attention away from the car and help it maintain a sleeper appearance. A very light coat of paint on the core and endtanks is also another option' date=' usually much cheaper and easier than anodizing, with a negligible performance loss.[/quote']

:D :D

significantly it also adds an interface layer between core material and paint which has a thermal impedance :D;)

The "benefit" or otherwise will be very dependent on the paint material used and how much it adds to the thermal impedance of the heat travel path up against the improved radiation efficiency of the black surface.

IMO if you feel the need to paint it for cosmetic reasons, spray the front face of the tubes lightly and at an angle to minimise the amount of paint that goes into the core.

*edit** LOL.. post overlap :D

Anodizing is a different kettle of fish, as it actually modifies the surface layer of the aluminium without adding an extra layer of material for the heat to transfer through :)

i'm looking at either powder coat or polyurathene paint i think.

Looks very aggressive. Nice. Dont paint it. Make the wannabe racers out there think twice

i like to try and keep mine a bit subtle(thats gone out the window now though tbh), still the local **** lads thinks mines slow because its an estate with a towbar :D

keep it aluminium colour. makes it more noticable and look very very cool pal

That looks amazing!!

Damn fine job sir - and keep it silver

Looks good, Keep it silver though.

but i don't want it to stand out.

Painting the intercooler on a road car will be fine , the differnce in thermal efficiency is almost un -measureable and certainly not noticeable

Cool!
