Possible Defection - What do I do ????????

Featured Replies

As many know Ive always hankered for an Octy 4x4 Diesel

Went into the Skoda dealers this morning who used to be VW & they have a Passat 4 motion 1.9 TDi, ex Vw Demo car therefore high spec, 03 plate, 3600 miles. Its the colour I want & they have offered me a deal pre haggling of my car & 6500, they are actually giving me only 1000 less than I paid for the Octy. Also they dont mind if the car comes to them standard so I have a few bits to sell if they dont fit the Passat

Sensible head says where do I sign, so what would you do ??,

Sounds like you know what you need to do, Not everyone will agree with the choice but no one else on the board is in the same position as you. The only thing I must say if it's a demo car it WILL have been thrashed from cold and not run in.

You know my thoughts.

I'd say gofor it.

I'm still toying with the idea of a v6 4motion golf a guy in work is selling.

go for it..

passat is a nice car and is everything you want spec wise.....;)

Passat on the cannonball. Could be interesting

Why not, a Superb won the Dutch one last year IIRC

I know, that was one of my thoughts, just need to source the big fuel tank, also the 4WD will give an advantage in the twisties & I gather theres a lot more of that this year to slow down the nutters

Anyway Test drive booked

Go for it, Stuart, even if it's second best ;)

The guy who won the Dutch Cannonball happens to be my dealer, so if you need any input on the fuel tank... :D

No ones come up with a reason for why I shouldnt do it yet, are there any ????????????

Stuart, you've already made your decision... go for it!

NO - only the possible thrashing.

Go for it.

I would.

Honestly.

Stuart, I don't think you should do it. The Passats been around for yonks now and anyway who says there won't be a new Octy 4x4 TDi just round the corner.......

Its 4X4 AND diesel AND most of the bits are Skoda. So go for it... :D

PS Goodbye. :(

Denis,

If I buy it I hope you wont make me say Goodbye, thats the only way I will leave, Its kind of nice & civilised around here

No ones come up with a reason for why I shouldnt do it yet, are there any ????????????

YES they are!!!!!! Arent we suppose to be SKODIANS????? So keep your OCTY!

haha!

Stuart, the goodbye was for your 4X4, but don't you also have an L&K? Whatever, of course we all expect you to stay a member. :grouphug:

It's too late to start creeping now Denis , the damage has already been done  .............I'm sure all of us tomorrow will try to console Stuart and his hurt feelings ;)

Stuart , you buy whatever you want, and you will still be most welcome here ............. :D

Another reason, Stuart - it will have real quattro... :D

Well Decisiuon made

The Passat 4motion was better than I thought as a stock car & didnt handle like the barge I thought it might do so I was left undecided

The Handling day yesterday was real fun & Briskodians are a great bunch

Doing the Cannonball in the Passat just wouldnt be as much fun so sorry guys but I will be around for some time to come, you never know Skoda may introduce a Diesel 4x4 one day, then it would be any easy decision, Strange thing is, had it of been a Skoda it would have been mine by now.

Stuart

I 'liked' my chipped quattro A4 diesels (1.9, 2.5) but never really loved them much.

My last one was at 185bhp and an Avant so would be VERY similar to a Jabba'd Passat 4motion PD. It was great on long trips but never that much fun.

I enjoy my 4x4 petrol Octavia much more, but remain a diesel fan and would expect the Passat to be a very similar all-rounder, just a different flavour. Shame it looks as though I'll have to sell it with a company car on the way.

Rob

I'm surprised after all that build-up, Stuart, but delighted you are staying with Skoda/Briskoda.
