Cleaning over next two days....

Featured Replies

.... well, due to the threat of showers today I have decided to put off doing the bodywork until tomorrow, so have decided today to concentrate on the wheels. Bought some Poorboys sealant recently, so felt it was time to get the wheels off and cleaned up. This is how it looks at the moment. Doing them 2 at a time, and the 2 cleaned ones are now drying, then will be polished with either zymol or williams (not decided yet) and then 2 or 3 coats of poorboys. Hoping in the future brake dust will just come off with a pressure washer.

Doing some fiddling around in the engine bay as well. Cleaning it a bit and checking all the levels in preperation for this coming weekend's escapades at the Ring.

your neighbours must think your mad mate , looks good!!

Your using the OEM jack to jack the whole side up

Brave man!

That thing isnt strong enough to jack up on corner never mind the whole side

Looking good tho

watch the wind will blow the car off the jacks.....

brave man ;)

Yeah - using that jack is not the most sensible thing in the world, but this is a brand new scissor jack and it's on solid concrete, and I'm jacking on the "uphill" side as the car stands on the high kerb. :)

Poorboys has gone on the face of two wheels. Smells good doesn't it. :o Will polish that off in a few minutes then do the inside of the rims.

Jason your jacking practises seriously concern me.

Thanks, I was starting to worry it was just me

Jason your car looks unstable, balanced on one tiny Cr@p jack with both wheels off. :P

It's stable plenty! :P

I even sat in it while fiddling around with my new powergate pro tuning device. :P

You lot need to live a little more dangerously. ;) (and I need to invest in a small trolley jack for home :o)

Anyway, the car is turned 180 now, with an alloy and steel on one side, and nowt on side facing me. :) First coat of polish drying on them.

Anyone see what happend to Latavia's Focus Wrc on the Jordan rally, when they used a jack like that one:eek:

Reading this nearly got me motivated to go and give my alloys a proper clean....but only nearly.

I'm kinda liking the silver steels look.... :o Reminds me of the really old polos that used to have silver steel wheels but no trims.

I did,. I liked the way the commentator stated that he may have suffered injury had it not been for the wheel under the car.....no s*~t..

Doubt you'll see me jacking my car up like that, especially a few days before a nice trip away. :o But fair play to you.

you sir are nuts! Hope it hasnt fallen and cost you a new set of discs! the day before you go away!

Thanks, I was starting to worry it was just me

I'm not on gravel though. ;)

Get yourself some axle stands and a decent trolly jack, their quite inexpensive nowdays.

Shall do, but for now this thing does a good job. :) I find as long as you ensure it's perfectly straight and dead under the sill when you start lifting, it's fine. :)

This is my front wheel now. They're now around 3 years old, but the coat of williams polish and 1 coat of poorboys sealant has given it a nice shine (this is no flash and in dull weather) I also (whilst the wheels were off) cleaned, dried, polished and sealed the brembo calipers. Came up nice too and hopefully will be resistant to brake dust as much as the alloys will be.

And this is the new rear axle setup! Some quality Avon rubber  but I shall be taking it easy in bends of course. :)

Well, already this morning, the car has been shampoo'd, rinsed, chamoised, and I've been round with the tar remover getting rid of numerous spots.... Not even 11am yet!

Taking a break, then it's out with the Williams polish to give her a good finish.

My old man was working on his car when he was younger, and jacked it up.

Realising he'd forgotten a tool went back inside to get it.

When he came back, the jack had gone threw the car!! Good job his memory is cr*p.

I always use a 2tonne trolly jack. £25/£30 is nothing to spend for the sake of your head/chest. Or if your not under it, discs/subby/brakes/suspension etc.

Well, thankfully, the evening is turning out to be dry, so to avoid any rain mishaps I've just polished half the car and waiting a few minutes for that to cure off then I might consider doing the other half - Only the doors and front bumper really that I've avoided anyway.

nice pics Jase - love the way you can jack up one complete side of a fabia so easily.

Get a proper jack and stands matey - that's too lovely a car to risk damaging it from collapsing on you......[EDIT] I meant to say on top of you.....

Bas

or on top of you jase!!

Love your car devonutopia. Is there a thread where you list all your mods?

I've been banned for doing so as it takes up too much server space. ;)
