  1. The Chrome treatments r completed 😊 The front bumper now has matching trim with the sides n rear tail lights. I also used black vinyl to blacken the chrome bit on the lower grille. Looks like the factory L&K trim now. Saved myself almost a grand had I sourced the original Chrome trim bits. Pleased with the results 👍
  2. Picked up my new Kamiq 1.5tsi dsg four days ago. love it already, so far, so much lighter and more responsive than the Karoq, loads of space, quiet , very smooth and already 47mpg. My twelfth Skoda and hope it will be equal to the others ( octavia, vrs, superb/ estate karoq etc)
  3. In the Nevada desert, 364 days ago.
  4. juanse, your English is so good. Are you Colombian?

Took Yeti in for some service work required at 3 years old, brake fluid & Haldex, and ended up getting this free by buying a new Karoq, which I will be collecting tomorrow! I had intended to stick with the Yeti for some time but decided it was time to upgrade. Getting an 190ps edition, so most powerful engine I have ever had in a car to date. So I guess I need to move over to the Karoq section now! So 10 years in 3 Yeti's ends tomorrow, never previously had the same car twice in a row, 160k+ relatively trouble free miles. A few issues in the 2010 car which was very early in the production run and had a few teething problems, but it never actully left me stuck anywhere.
  6. McLarens appeal against Racing Point has been dropped. I saw a photo of Wolff chatting to Brown at Silverstone Sunday. Caption must have been "How slow will your car's be next year with no engines fatty?"
  7. Tonight's sunset from Sandbanks in Poole, I'd missed yesterday's so I was glad it was just as good as yesterday's sunset
  8. So picture the scene, its a hot day and I'm browsing the net, ebay, auto trader facebook marketplace etc when I stumble across a local car auction website that has a budget sale on a Tuesday. I register so I can watch the live auction as its online only at the moment due to covid. Stuff goes through, mondeos, clios etc. All out of my budget (I'm looking for a commuter car for work) so I being to get bored. I watch the end of a cheapish mercedes and decide I've had enough. I put my laptop to the side to grab a drink, during which time a new car has gone up for auction. I close my laptop screen and as I do so I (must have) caught the bid button in the top left corner.... An hour or so later I get an email - you are the winning bidder of lot 72... A 2006 Suzuki Swift 1.5 GLX. Paid the princely sum of £250 plus buyers fee and collecting tomorrow. It needs serious work. Has MOT until October but was attempted to be put through last week and failed on quite a bit. New front bumper needed as well as suspension arm ball joints and anti roll bar ball joints. Rear brakes and parking brake also need sorting. Big dent in the boot lid too. No wonder it only went for £250! Lesson learnt, be more careful!!!
  9. I’ve put together a review of my Superb Estate over on YouTube. i don’t think that anything I say will be groundbreaking for people who come here, but you might enjoy it (or not 🙄). link is here should you want to take a look
  10. Once owning a car with ventilated leather, I’ll never own a car with full leather without ventilated seats!
  11. I have a pretty much the same issue with a new Iphone SE. Bluetooth disconnections and the touch screen not responding. That's why you can't end the call. Did you try calling a number that needs an input, like 'press 1 for blah'? If you have the same issues as me, that won't work either.
  12. Is your cooling system performing OK? Just thinking that anything above normal 90°C operation isn't going to help things. Thermostat ever been changed? Rad fan(s) fully working? I had to change the smaller fan on our Fabia a few weeks back. Once I'd performed an autopsy on the old one, it was clear that only one out of the four brushes wasn't stuck, immobile in the holder. It would start up sometimes, but often not, when the other fan did.
  13. ....which then reduces EGTs....
  14. When fuel quality is OK, I can see that working, but when poor?
  15. When I did mine I called TPS and they just took my reg and knew which camera kit I needed. You will need 2 items: The camera kit (camera integrated into the boot handle and wiring loom from front of the car to the C pillar). A 2nd shorter wiring loom which runs from the C pillar (plugs in to the other loom) to the camera. This shorter loom comes in 2 versions depending on whether you have a hatchback or estate so make sure you get the correct one.
  16. I have the Skoda all weather rubber mats. They are excellent in the back when fitted with the rear tunnel mat. The rear footwell mats have raised edges all the way around so do a great job of catching food/drink/sand and whatever other mess the kids leave behind. I leave these fitted in the back all year round. I swap the fronts out for carpeted mats in the summer. i got mine from superskoda but I’m sure you can get them elsewhere too.
  17. Not today, but fitted these back in February when I brought the car home.
  18. I've still got 2 MTB bikes in the back of mine (lazy) after going to a trail on Sunday. They easily fit in with the front wheel off, in fact we took the back wheels off on the way there but realised that wasn't really needed. Plenty of space for your bikes and all the equipment you need, i reckon you could probably even fit 3 bikes in there. Best to put something between the bikes, if you have expensive ones, so they dont scratch or anything. Obviously this was done with both the back row seats down.
  19. Williams now withdraw appeal against Racing Point, so all the Mercedes teams are aligned. Only Renault who started it, and Ferrari (who cheat anyway) left in. RedBull not getting involved, apart from Horner sniping at Mercedes as usual. I think RedBull Racing probably have plenty to hide about copying - what with both their teams being supplied by (marginally) 3rd party company Red Bull Technology.
  20. Yes and with the cover pulled back. You can’t see anything of the bike.
  21. Indeed. I’ve had bigger petrol engines (2.0T, 2.5T) that you can drive like a diesel. Smaller though and you can’t really do it.
  22. Happy update, I finally collected my shiny new toy on Monday, exactly 14 months and 2 days from date of order. I appreciate Covid played its part though. Theres so many gizmos and gadgets to fiddle with. 😀 One thing I did notice, which is a bonus, I appear to have front parking sensors. They were an option when I placed the order, so I didn’t spec them, so I’m happy.
  23. Sorry to hear the above. These are bad times for many and the Government needs to rejig the economy quickly to the new normal. Covid and BREXIT are a perfect storm. Amazing to think there will be customs at Holyhead shortly and 10% car import taxes, mad world at the mo.
  24. Sounds like you are maybe used to the torque of a diesel geared engine. Petrol engines work better with higher revs
  25. @silver1011 🤬 I can see why you don’t like them then! As they say, the devils in the detail.
  26. This has given me an idea when going through it. The bass takes up the side compartments in the boot. So if I see pic of boot & side compartments are full - that’s the Canton. Already found one car that doesn’t mention Canton in the description anywhere but you can see the bass bins in boot. Bonus 😂
  27. Canton specs for each model can be - https://www.canton.de/en/skoda-en
  28. Hello again. I've done some further research on this. The cylinder head coolant valve is a solenoid as I indicated in my original reply. In fact it is integral and mounted to the switchable water pump. If you search for switchable water pump problems in Audi, vw, skoda Octavia there are lots of posts. Lots of aftermarket technical guidance. The switchchable water pump does not seem that reliable due to the sleeve of the water pump seizing and sticking. Or the water pump failing and leaking badly. A lot of people change to a mechanical only water pump. Apparently vw themselves and a lot of aftermarket offer a choice of mechanical only or switchable replacement. Even when mechanical only is used the solenoid valve n489 is mounted on the water pump as with the switchable version. Otherwise error will be logged. Back to your case. The water pump set up you have is reported to have likelihood of failure. This is likely to be a problem with either overheating or a coolant leak. The pump should be inspected when the timing belt is replaced. Has this been done. This is the easiest and least costly time to replace the water pump. But if you wait too long it could catch you by failing before renewal. As far as your difficulty starting and stalling. I now really think it unlikely to be connected to the coolant valve. The valve is a separate replaceable part Around 70 Euro but given the weaknesses in the pump I doubt it would be a good idea to replace on its own. Also as recommended check wiring continuity to the valve on the water pump.
  29. You can access Erwin for 7 euros (I think) for an hour. You can then get the detailed spec sheet for any VIN. Canton audio is: 9VS Sound package "branded"
  30. Ordered all the parts, after being messed around by sellers taking my money with no stock (that's you, PFJones). Should all be here by Friday, then the fun can start. Astonishingly the first parcel to arrive will be the OBDEleven from Lithuania - tomorrow (Weds 12th) having been ordered on Monday afternoon. Just hope I don't feck up the car with it! Thanks to all for the help - including @rover220, @DEZMONDE , @Lutz and @3T51704x4 👍
  31. I think you pays your money etc. SE is better value SEL is the better spec Is the £3000 worth it? Probably not in terms of a 10-15% hike in the asking price. BUT- The LED headlights are miles better than those on the SE The car looks "nicer" with the chrome surrounds and inside improvements. Just feels a bit more classy imo. The seats, a pain to clean maybe but they look smarter and you don't move as much 19" wheels fill the arches better (and still look a little small!). If you keep the car for 10 years, are the above worth £300 a year? Only you can decide that. Heated seats, keyless entry, power tailgate imo are next to worthless (others may disagree).

It doesn't it sort of acts like a tuning fork and your fingertips are very sensitive, MOT testers do it but crucially they have the car at chest height on the ramp and can use both hands and all their force to spin the wheel up, they can also easily access the spring although most touch the strut housing, none of this is practical with the car on axle stands and you kneeling, with the drag of the brake disc and the rear prop on a 4x4 the wheel will have stopped before you can change position to touch the strut. MOT testers often get their assistant to continuously spin the wheel while they feel for vibrations where there is drag present. Oh for the good old days of brake drums.
  33. Certainly looks like the ECU is out to lunch. Given the other modules (ie: abs) on the drive canbus are present, that suggests the can gateway and its wiring are good. I'd be verifying the power(s), ground(s) and both can high and low wires are happy. First with a multimeter to confirm continuity and then ideally load test too. If that checks out, it points to the ECU being dead. I've just arrived in Kos for a week so I can't check any wiring diagrams to suggest which pins to look at. Makes me wonder if there are some permanent and switched lives, but just one is sad stopping the ECU turning on?
  34. i used this, slightly cheaper https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EGR-Valve-Block-Full-Kit-for-1-2-1-6L-TDi-CR-VW-AUDI-SEAT-SKODA-Common-Rail/121471676566
  35. You can download Yeti Owners Manuals for car and infotainment system for all years and all languages in the link below. https://manual.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com/Model/Yeti_5L
  36. Welcome to the Yeti club, you will find that members of this forum are a source of all knowledge Yetiwise! Only thing I would do if I were you was to get your new Yeti serviced plus an A/C service and brake fluid change soon as you can. After that an annual oil and filter change should keep you in fine fettle. Good luck.
  37. I asked for the fix at the last service and was assured they had done it (and asked me to sign a worksheet that had a firmware update listed). The car seemed a bit better when pulling away and it certainly doesn't appear to have done the economy any harm.
  38. "the coasting function" @shyVRS245 - can you expand on that? Anything that makes my regular 136mile journey more economical gets my vote. (rushes off to scour manual for "coasting function")

Hi from Spain. I'm sorry about the language. This is my octavia vrs tsi. It is 331hp and 500Nm and it has some modifications as you can see. Thanks for acepting😉
  40. Still detailing mine, inside, outside, around the engine bay. Have had lots of time to do it, as I am self employed and have been off furloughed. Not much work has come back still, so gave the car a good wax early one morning last week before the sun came up. This pensioner still likes to wax on, wax off.
  41. Bought them 2 years ago to increase the track width of my Vrs245 as they are 8.5J wide as apposed to the 7.5J Octavia rims. Also fitted 235 tyres instead of the 225 tyres on the Vrs. They are Audi RS6 replicas but only 19". Had them repainted silver back in February and they are straight swap for the 8J x 19" Vega Sportline wheels which I have now put on the wife's Karoq SEL which had factory 18" Bragas. I like the Audi centre caps although I understand most would prefer the Skoda badges but when I am sat at traffic lights if an Audi pulls up alongside they get really confused particularly if I floor it.
  42. Well driven. You obviously enjoyed relatively flowing traffic , used a combination of smooth steady throttle and read the road well to avoid wasting momentum and fuel. Ignore the doubters and critics who seem to get a buzz out of 'having their say' on this site.
  43. Speak to these guys to see about getting it on a dyno to see what it makes. Guys that work there are jack, rob and Anthony tell them I sent you and they will do it for a good price https://www.adedmundson.co.uk/
  44. The biggest problem dealer techs face is normally after 3-4yrs they don’t see the car again. So issues like this very rarely appear in the workshop as the vehicles are too new in most cases to make them have to think about it. They are in most ways fine enough at their job, but just out of practice in diagnostics. Ive also seen a failed lumber support bag in a Mercedes seat or even the door handle Failing cause the engine to cut out due to working off the vacuum system, and yet seem completely unrelated. So I never rule anything out. ign may not come on as a safety because the box thinks it’s in gear For instance,

My family had a weekend away last week and they took my car to put some miles on the clock (now gone up to 664 miles since December 😁 ). When they got to their destination I sent them a WhatsApp to say they had done 144 miles, got 47.9 m.p.g., had parked in the car park at the rear of the hotel they were staying at. Next day I sent them another to say they had left the dog in the car while it was parked up which had set the alarm off. I'm certain that there is far more data being collected than that being exposed to me. It's just one of dozens of ways that our every move is being watched by someone every hour of the day. Lots of people have experienced receiving adverts for an item they were just talking about in the privacy of their own home, SIRI and ALEXA are listening to you 24/7 for instance 🙄
  46. I have a Nextbase 522GW and love it. As for the screen, it turns off a few seconds after starting up.
