  1. Yeah, mine had that. The knob was like the one on the left in the following pic. The 'C' stands for čas which is Czech for 'time' ..... 👍 That's a nice pic of your Estelle I always loved the rear-engined Skodas. They had character, unlike modern 'white-goods' cars.
  2. I was looking more closeley at that. He only makes/made the replacement bits that hold the cup not the mechanism that makes it work that hides behind the dash.
  3. Apologies to Fominas for the thread derail.
  4. Mine had the very last grille design. This one.... ^ EDIT: But it broke because the plastic was like something out of a chocolate box, so I replaced it with a normal Estelle 2 grille. And yes, the aerial was in the sunroof!
  5. Might as well completely derail the thread with a pic of one of my Estelles, a W-reg (1982) 120LSE. I had it up on ramps because it was feeling poorly 😛 ++
  6. This is the only pic I have left of my Rapid 136... It was epic fun, like driving a go-kart.
  7. Yep. Yes, all 1.3 Felicias have the rattly timing chain Skoda engine.
  8. ^ No worries. Here are the Fabia MK1 petrol engine codes...
  9. ^ Haha, I remember that headline I used to have a T-reg 105S. They had the old worm and nut steering which was dreadful and I remember it being dog-slow. The slowest car I've ever driven. The steering was far better when they introduced rack and pinion in about 1983.
  10. I know but you said this.... I interpret that as you saying that as far as you're aware, timing chain rattle is only a problem on the engine you mention and not the Fabia 8v, 1.4 MPI. The picture I posted is a 1.4 MPI timing chain.
  11. Yes indeed. I've had loads of rear-engined Skodas in the past including a Rapid 136. All of them had timing chain rattle but with the engine being at the back it's more subdued when you're inside the car. I have fitted new chains to a few of them and it was glorious how quiet the engines became whilst it lasted. Regarding wheel bearings, I once had a very noisy rear one on an F-reg Estelle 130 LSE with the later non-swing axle suspension. I replaced the bearings on both sides and it was fine after that.
  12. Nope, the Fabia 1.4 mpi, 8 valve engine is notorious for timing chain rattle. There is no tensioner in the design so when the chain stretches it thrashes about. They are a duplex chain and I've never heard of one breaking, they just make an annoying rattle at idle. New ones only last about 20,000 miles before starting to rattle. It was the same when this engine was used in the old rear-engined Skodas as the design has always been the same.
  13. Yeah, the bottom ends on these engines hardly ever give trouble, they are pretty much bomb-proof. The example video is 100% top end noise. I agree with not flushing the engine. It dislodges crap that should be left well alone. The lifter will either free with use or need replacing.
  14. Yeah, 10W40 grade for this engine.
  15. If you go on ebay and enter 'Skoda Fabia Door Lock Cylinder Repair Kit' you will see lots of them.
  16. Sure. The cylinder head has to come off. He could try the factory initial valve setting procedure but if that doesn't work, it's probably a sticking lifter if the noise is the same as in the video he posted. However, it would be helpful if he could post a video of his own engine before giving a more sure-fire opinion.
  17. Sounds like a dodgy hydraulic valve lifter. I have the same engine and it doesn't tick like that or ''twitch'' at low speeds.
