Personally I don't think its necessary on a modern engine. With the latest manufacturing techniques (for component surface finishing/oil flow/retention), engine materials and synthetic oils there is no need. Long gone are the days of big end/little end bearings wearing out or a camshaft lobe or crankshaft being worn out of tolerance, most engines easily outlive the life of the remainder of the car these days. If the car manufacturers though it necessary they would say it needed an oil change soon after it was new, as it is now straight out of the showroom you can do up to 30,000km then have your first oil change. However, if it makes you happier then why not do an oil change, the only downside will be your bank balance.

Just to show my above economy can be replicated over a longer time period here's another showing I did 923 miles since refilling and still 90 mile range left. The fuel economy for such a large car really is very impressive. I spend lots of time on the motorway driving up and down the UK for my work, my Superb is now 4 months old and has 12k on the clock, I expect the economy to improve with summer temperatures. Time will tell if I can reach 80mpg+ on a run.

I can well believe the 1000+ miles to a tank, just last week mine showed a range of 965 miles with 169 already covered since refilling. I usually use Sainsbury's diesel but it does seem to give better economy on Esso.

Further to my post above today I found the option on the MIB3 to remember the last distance selected. If you don't want to select the last distance selected you also get the option of selecting a default from very close to very far. Only taken me 4 months/12k miles to find it - maybe I should have RTFM!

Mine's the same, always reverts back to 'Normal' on start up.

It sounds like you have found the problem yourself as you say when you turn the climate off the noise stops. If you have unchecked the supplementary heater option and it makes no difference it would seem to rule that out. My Superb was new in October 2022 and I haven't noticed any noise at all when the stop/start kicks in and the engine is off but ignition on. Note I have a diesel model but if the engine isn't running I don't see it makes an difference?. I have always left the supplementary heater option on. Sounds like it is related to the climate somehow, perhaps your dealer has a similar car they can compare it with for you and if different to yours they have little option but to agree with you and investigate further.

My diesel has the supplementary heater which is pretty good, not as good as a parking heater but it does make a lot of difference. Works automatically below about 5 degrees or so. Don't think the petrol models have this feature?. Edit: I see it is now on some Skoda petrol cars as well

Exactly the same problem for me. When it works it's great, it just doesn't work very often. If I get anywhere with Skoda towards fixing this I'll let you know.

May or may not be of an help to anyone but my 2023MY Superb is on: Device no: 3V0035820K Hardware: H22 Software: 0306 Nav: 22.12 Not sure how relevant the above is but you may want to ask your dealer should you be running the above hardware & software. There will may be further hardware involved such as the eSim unit, aerial etc. I've had my car from new 3 months ago and so far in the 8k miles it's worked (almost) fine. Only issue I'm having is it doesn't always receive the destinations I send it from the Skoda app which I'm still in discussion with Skoda trying to sort it.

My 2023MY Superb 2.0 TDI 150 DSG coasts in both 'eco' and 'normal' drive modes (not used 'S'), the wife's 2017 facelift Octavia 1,4 TSI DSG coasts in 'eco' mode only.

Had this happen on the wife's Octavia, we got in one day and there was a large crack roughly 6 inches long beginning where it was hidden behind the A pillar trim, no obvious signs of any impact plus we would have heard something hit it, it just appeared overnight for no apparent reason. It was covered under the insurance (we paid a small excess) and a new heated screen was fitted by National Windscreens who did an excellent job. I have also used National Windscreens for my previous car and again the service and repair couldn't be faulted.

Apologies for the extremely poor quality of the photo which was taken driving within private company grounds after leaving work this evening. You can see my Superb is in 'D' (or 'normal' drive mode), but also notice there is no gear position shown after the 'D' as the gear appears to be fully disengaged during coasting. A circled 'e' also appears at the top of the screen showing it is in 'eco', the revs drop to roughly 1000rpm, and the 'power' meter is showing 0kw (zero). This is the coasting mode which I believe the OP is referring to. My wife's 2017 Octavia also has this function but it only works with the drive mode in 'eco', where as on my Superb it works in eco or normal drive modes. No idea about Sport mode as I never use it.

I have a 2022 (2023MY) Superb DSG. Mine goes in to 'coasting' mode quite often in 'E' mode, and sometimes but rarely in 'D' mode, never use 'S' but probably not. During coasting mode a symbol appears on the dash and the rev counter drops to normal tick over rpm regardless of vehicle speed. A quick dab on either the brakes or accelerator and it drops out of coasting mode, the rpm goes back to the relevant engine speed. I think this is the coasting mode the OP refers to which is not like previous posts think of as coasting when the engine is in override, it does seem to totally disengage the gearbox from the engine except you don't move the gear lever as it does it automatically.

A very well known problem within the Volkswagen group vehicles unfortunately, some are fixed with a software update only, some need a module replacing plus updated software. The OP is referring to the low functionality lights which light up in the rear wings only, the high functionality also include rear lights in the boot section as well.

Open the bonnet and just above the grille there will be a sticker stating the oil grade that your engine uses. Mine states 0W-20.

I wish there was a setting for this in my Superb. Previous car was MIB2.5 and it had the option to remember last distance selected, new one is MIB3 and there is no longer the option to save your last distance, you either have to put up with the middle of five distances (middle one is default), or re-select you desired distance every time you start the car 😠

Pretty sure the Skoda service package doesn't include the Haldex service which is an additional cost, and they won't/don't clean the gauze filter as mentioned above unless you pay more again, usually just the oil is changed. Unless the gauze filter is cleaned you'll end up with 2wd only. Just something to bear in mind.

On a DSG auto hold is automatically de-activated when you put it into neutral, and should come back on when moved out of neutral. This catches some people out as when you release the foot brake the car will freely roll if still in 'N' when they think auto hold is still active. Just through it was worth trying if/when you get to see the car again. It does work a little differently with DSG compared to a manual.

When you get the chance put the DSG in neutral and see if the auto hold goes off, then back to drive and see if it comes back on.
