  1. This afternoon the Superb had it's third replacement windscreen, so on the fourth windscreen in total if you include the original. It's now 3 1/2 years old with 120k on it and it spends lots of time on the motorway, so anything that gets thrown up off the road in front generally hits fairly hard at motorway speeds. Apart from that it's running great, the fuel consumption is starting to get better with the warmer temperatures, oil consumption is negligible, also just filled up the Adblue with roughly 15 litres, enough for about the next 20k miles.
  2. I cover about 3k miles a month and over the winter period I probably refill it once every two weeks, this is usually before the low warning light comes on, but about 5 litres a month as a rough guide for me. Usage very much depends upon if you give a short or extended wash, I also give the rear screen a short wash just before I put it into reverse, not because the rear screen is dirty (I have a hatch) but it washes the rear camera at the same time.
  3. Could this be covered by the 12 year corrosion warranty? The warranty covers rusting from the inside out' and it does appear to be rusting from inside the seal, not from the outside inwards. Might be worth asking your local dealer.
  4. I would have thought the person doing the repair would remove and refit the trim as part of the job?
  5. Toyota Aygo X (and no, the X is not a kiss..........)
  6. It's part of the winter package plus option:
  7. The simple answer is no! Firstly they can purchase the car at dealer rates from Skoda UK, and provided they sell it withing 12 months can also claim back the VAT which at the current rate of 20% is quite a lot https://www.gov.uk/vat-motor-dealers
  8. The 'update' is them trying to sell you a new car!. Out with the old and in with the new, hence update. Anything to get you in the showroom, hoping once you're there you just might decide to buy a new car. The hardest part for any sales is trying to get a potential customer in the showroom, once you are in the showroom there's always the chance of a sale for them.
  9. How far have you driven the car since you reset the tyre pressures? I find that sometimes it can take a while for the error to clear on the app, for example refill windscreen washer bottle when I've just refilled it, drive it a few miles and the app resets the warning message on my phone.
  10. That sounds like part of the brake pedal mechanism is not quite correct, like a bush or something clicking in/out of position as the pedal is moved.
  11. Just change your VC screen option to get a larger map
  12. Before I had the Superb I have now I had a 67 plate Tiguan for four years (and before that a Superb mk2 facelift estate). While the Tiguan is a little higher to get in/out of the seats didn't go low enough to the floor for my liking, it felt more like I was sitting on dining chair, the Superb feels more like sitting in an arm chair, having said that I had the Tiguan from new and covered 148k miles in it so it did the job perfectly well. The boot capacity of the Tiguan is quite misleading as it's a much higher boot floor to roof distance than the Superb, and the Superb has a much larger usable floor space. Both the current Superb & Tiguan were 150 TDI DSG so not comparable to your daughters requirement of petrol, but our second car is an Octavia 1.4 TSI DSG and that goes very well, much better than the 1.4 capacity would suggest so I'd be quite happy with a Superb 1.5 TSI. Given the choice of a new Tiguan or new Superb I'd take the Superb without question.
  13. I slightly intrigued by your comment ref lifespan. From what you say your driving style is much the same as mine, my rear discs & pads lasted to 90k miles, the front ones are still original and now at 114k (I've had the car from new). I do cover quite a few miles which I think helps a lot, people who do a low mileage seem to get corrosion issues, and despite the front ones covering a good few miles they still look almost like new, although I suspect it won't be too long before the discs and pads need replacing - the fronts lasted to 131k on my last car (VW Tiguan).
  14. I haven't got Columbus but with my Amundsen on the rare occasions it's slow to start up it's because it's doing an OTA update in the background that I wasn't aware of until it says an update has taken place, just one aspect to look at (if you have OTA available). Once the update has been installed it's back to normal operation.
  15. I understand your reasoning, but how often do you dip your fuel tank? I'm guessing like most people do you rely on a fuel gauge which is likely to be reasonably accurate. As far as I am aware no one on this forum has had a problem so far regarding any engine or related failures due to using the oil gauge and not a dipstick, and if they did I'm sure we would have heard by now. What makes you think the gauge could be suspect? - time to embrace modern technology!
  16. It can, but if you can check it from the comfort of the drivers seat........
  17. The mk4 Superb does not have a physical dipstick https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/532601-virtual-dipstick/
  18. Mine did an update OTA yesterday that included updates to the shop section, popped up in the notifications section of the main screen so I agreed to the update. Do you have a notification, it shows up as a circled '1' (or more) at the top of the main screen.
  19. Just Googled and a similar thing here with a Kodiaq, I haven't read it right through but may be worth a 5 minute read https://www.kodiaqforums.co.uk/threads/rear-traffic-alert-and-blind-spot-monitoring-switching-off.1367/
  20. Mine may be slightly different to your as I have a 2023MY, but on mine I'm pretty sure the virtual dash 'default' is set on the main screen, by which ever screen you want from the selection available (can't remember from memory but worth checking). Also is the blind spot turned on in the main screen options (again mine may be different). However, from what you say it is activated upon ignition on, but turns off when reverse is selected, do you or did it ever have a towbar fitted? (may not be relevant but just a thought).
  21. If you Google VW/Skoda/Audi 650 Adblue tank range error there are several websites/forums mentioning this, seems to be no definitive answer as could be a number of things causing it, and as Bap33 says above you really need to read the error codes. One such mention is here https://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/227850-vw-and-adblue-arrrgggggghhhh/
  22. Even though in the UK we are still using imperial (but only for some things........) the system still works in metric in the background. My wife's Octavia doesn't cover many miles so its on annual servicing and when it comes out of the Skoda garage after a service I always check the service reminder has been reset so it does show the 9300 miles to next service, and as I cover a few more miles in the Superb its on variable servicing and it shows 18700 to the next service, so when either car indicates it needs a service its booked in.
  23. I'm probably being pedantic, and somewhat off topic, but that doesn't quite make sense, the UK is in Europe. Back on topic I've had my Superb since new and one of the dealer services is missing from the print out the dealer can supply you with, I have the relevant invoice for the 'missing' service so no question it has been done should the next owner query it. Could be the same in your case, is there any paperwork available?
  24. When I first read your post I thought you meant you actually take the tyres off the alloys, to clean the 'inside' of the tyres before putting them back on the alloys!. That really would be detailing! I now see you meant clean the inner side of the alloys & inner side of the outside of the tyres. The only people who usually see the inside of the tyres are the tyre fitters.
  25. You know what you already have is basically a good car so I would keep it. It needs a bit of work but most cars do at that age, if you change it will cost you the 1k+ anyway and there's no guarantee to say that what you buy next will not need at least the same or more spending on it within a short period of time. It may be a bit bigger than what you need but until the time comes when you have little to no option except to sell it keep it.
