  1. Good to know - thanks. Found some links about these roof bars if anyone is interested: Product page http://www.flli-menabo.it/mnb_upload/29988__BRIOXL.pdf Instructions http://www.flli-menabo.it/mnb_upload/58985__BRIO.pdf Fitting instructions Comments from other owners http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/aluminium-roof-bars-set-2-lidl-26-99-1237032#comments
  2. This is really good stuff - it wasn't obvious to me
  3. So confidence is high that these are good? I plan to use them on a 2000mile round trip to the Côte d'Azur and I don't fancy the roof box falling off on the Peages
  4. I bought one too from Lidl Uxbridge. Not able to fit it yet as its peeing it with rain. Includes an 1x Alan key and 2x keys for locking the bars to the car. Here's what they look like:
  5. Do they look cheap as the price suggests or are they pretty good?
  6. I'm looking at going down to Lidl today to pick a pair of these up. Anyone got theirs yet?
  7. I bought my VRS estate for £28k on PCP with a view to keeping it for 10 years. I did this with a V6 4motion Golf and it works out pretty well. My VRS is my first PCP purchase. This is primarily the reason why I felt justified loading it up with the extras I wanted as 10 years is a long time to live without functionality you wish you had included. I also have 4 years warranty. So over 10 years, that makes my VRS £233.33/month. As nearly all family cars will depreciate to almost nothing over 10 years, the monthly cost seems pretty good to me considering the car is excellent and covers all bases for the foreseeable future. What you guys are talking about here has me thinking about my strategy. Generally speaking, if I hand back my car after 3ish years for another one, as long as I don't have to put extra money down, the monthly payment remains the same and the car is equal to or better spec, I'm getting better value for money right? Same monthly cost, better car. Am I missing something or is this better than my 10 year strategy? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Do you mean you use Bluetooth for the audible part of the directions with Google maps?
  9. Hi All, I was looking to buy the Thule Wingbar Edge 9582 for my VRS estate from Amazon as they have the same low price everyone else has and a great returns policy. Few questions to those in the know: Will these fit directly onto the roof bars on my vRS estate or do I need adaptors (if so, what)? They are required to carry a large roof box down to sud de la france and back twice a year. - was thinking the (overpriced) Thule Motion 900. How does this connect to these bars? Any adaptors required? The bars look very low profile - any clearance issues with the integrated radio/GPS aerial ontop? Thanks guys.
  10. Whilst I can't answer your question directly, I have Adaptive Cruise and its on its dedicated stalk.
  11. Front Assist is no waste of money - its saved my bacon already.
  12. It definitely does work well. I was driving down a street at 30 mph behind a white van with about 2 car lengths gap. A nice Ferrari went by and I followed it passing me in my side mirrors. It must have been a 2 second glance. The white van broke suddenly just as I had taken my eyes off the road ahead. Before I knew what happened, a loud beep, big red car on the colour Maxidot and the car slammed on the anchors to a complete stop. I nearly sheeet myself. It stopped about 1 car length away from the white van. Obviously all blame lies with me and taught me a lesson - but Front Assist saved my bacon from a front end collision at 30mph. I owe the person that wrote the code for that technology a beer.
  13. Any suggestions on how best to keep the exhaust trims on the VRS in tip top condition?
  14. I'll give it another go on the same journey with Sans Plumb when I get a chance. I only do about 300 miles a month at the moment so it'll take a bit of time to get the Super unleaded out.
  15. Indeed, 5 fills up weren't full tanks....just 5 top ups using Super from anywhere between 25%-75% full. I agree that all of this is an inexact science. I just attempted to create some constant variables as best I could. These included: Same journey Same time of day (ie quiet) A quiet time of day allows for a constant-ish speed Adaptive cruise was used to maintain that constant These is as scientific as I'm willing to go - just a casual exercise. My (flawed in certain areas) approach does appear to demonstrate a cost saving using Super Unleaded if driven "normally" but I agree that all things are not equal here.
  16. Interested to see when you take yours in whether they replace the entire steering wheel now.
  17. That is a good price. I do have a Tescos about 6 miles away but it's out of the way so I'm sure the round trip would remove the value. Will try it though to see if 99ron fuel adds even more fuel efficiency.
  18. So it looks like it's never been touched - great! That's my main concern about taking mine in. I have a bad history with dealers "fixing" rattles. They usual cause more rattles than they fix.
  19. The Canton upgrade is well worth it. It doesn't sound that impressive brand new but after 10hours wear in, it really is very good. I had a £2000 ofGenesis ICE in my last car and the Canton upgrade is not that far off. I listen to a lot of Bass heavy music and it sound really good. It's not thundering bass but it's very punchy with crisp top end. You do need a good quality source.
  20. Just went over 1000 miles today Thanks Keith. I love the car in everyway. Hope you have a great time! Looking forward to seeing your findings too.
