  1. I bought a car that was already built so got no choice. I have the camera but don't really use it and wouldn't pay extra for one given the choice. I would like a heated steering wheel but hate heated seats so could quite happily lose them.
  2. I've had my car since March and it's had almost all the common problems, ACC refusing to overtake, Complete crash of infotainment screen, Popping noise and loss of SOS system, Airbag warnings, Heated seats turning on by themselves and refusing to remain off until they've been turned off 5 or 6 times, Loss of heating/ventilation controls from the screen, Warnings of loss of park assist, auto hold and a few other systems. I've finally had enough and have the car booked in to the dealer next Thursday. They tell me if they investigate and can't find any fault i'm liable for a charge even though it's under warranty. What is the chance of them telling me there is no fault showing even though they MUST know the system is shyte? Are the dealers still trying to deny there is a problem despite overwhelming evidence that there is? Will they accept it's shyte and try a software update which 'may' or more likely 'may not' improve things. Anyone any recent experience of this? Thanks. Sorry for the thread hijack.
  3. Definitely a 'problem' they bloody well do know about. There are numerous reports of the ACC displaying the unwillingness to overtake on the right. My vRS has done it from day 1. I was putting up with all the little niggling problems with the software but the SOS unit has now decided to spit it's dummy so i've booked it in. Not confident they'll fix it though.
  4. I don't want to be tempting fate but my car seems to be much better behaved recently. The heated seats have remained off and heating/ventilation controls remained on screen. I've never had any problems with the SOS module and only had the 'pops' once so can't complain there. Not been on m/way recently though so can't comment on adaptive cruise. No updates other than the over the air ones done by the car. Here's hoping.
  5. Not with the latest keys they can't. The keys 'go to sleep' until moved.
  6. The new keys 'go to sleep' after a short time without movement so cannot be used with repeaters to bypass the KESSY system. Saying that I still keep mine in a faraday pouch.
  7. No idea about the system being down but when I was awaiting my car they were really good. That was in March.
  8. Do we have any clever people on here that know how the matrix lights work? I have a vRS so standard fit with these lights. They appear really good but as the mornings/evenings get darker i'm using them more in stop/start traffic. I have noticed that if i'm behind another car as I come to a stop part of the headlight beam changes and it appears bit go darker. Anyone know what they're doing or am I imagining it?
  9. My car was registered end of March. My device number appears to be older than yours but display unit/control hardware and software appear newer?????
  10. My mirrors open when the doors are unlocked not ignition turned on. Not sure it can be changed.
  11. On my previous Kodiaq I couldn't feel any difference between the different modes. On my vRS Octavia though there is a definite change when you go from normal into sport. Things noticeably sharpen up and depending on speed the dgs gearbox quite often drops a gear. Sport is quite a bit more aggressive when slowing as it changes down far more.
  12. Personally I don't think it's so they can't get caught. I feel it's because they see the youtube videos from the states where a front plate isn't usually fitted they don't bother because they think it looks better on their Ferrari, Lambo or Aston. Unfortunately though Barry with his Astra has also caught on to this trend so he's also removed his front plate so his 1.6 diesel looks like a Veyron, possibly.
  13. My car doesn't have virtual pedal (most pointless extra ever imo) but does have the luggage cover dooh dah. The online brochure isn't exactly accurate though as it still shows AndriodAuto as wired only which it's not.
  14. I believe it does, as does manual against dsg.
  15. I previously had a Kodiaq so it's much easier than that. To be honest the bars are only an inch or 2 shorter at each end so it's not too bad if you stand on the sill (carefully) I do try to park near a kerb or something raised, at home I have a box to stand on. I'm 5' 9" so not exactly a giant.
  16. I thought I had pics but can't find them and bars not fitted at present. The wing bars look good and don't even know they're there for noise. The link I posted is the correct bars and fittings for a mk4 Octavia estate.
  17. This is what I have on mine. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/383724471835
  18. My tsi vRS was registered end of April. I have the problem with aircon refusing to remember settings. I also have intermittent problem with the ACC refusing to allow me to overtake a car to my left. This in my eyes is the most worrying/dangerous. I don't have a problem with KESSY (didn't know there was one to be honest) and don't use the car satnav so no idea if it forgets stuff. It's slightly annoying when you check the centre screen and notice there are no icons present for temp or heated seats as it's crashed but it always comes back on restart. On the whole, for me they are niggling faults that shouldn't be there however, would I still buy the same car now knowing the problems? OH YES. The driving experience and look of the car go a long way to make up for the problems.
  19. Surely if you feel you need to manually drop a gear you do it. No need to know which gear you're going to get. If you use the paddles to change you get a M and the gear number anyway.
  20. I wouldn't win. My petrol vRS dsg is currently averaging under 30mpg from new.
