size has been hugely decreased if compare to previous,

looks like some cleanup in the Mib1 folders, just one example out of many folders -

Yes these slimmed down mib2 high only versions were the preserve of Audi drivers only that got them on the paid mapcare subscription behind a pay wall previously. @pcbbc was familiar with them. The versions released on Skoda, VW and Seat were the combined mib 1/2 high release where they could be used in either unit. This release drops the mib1 high support but you must present all folders to the unit. The programmers have called the directionarys mib1 and mib2 but it needs both, just they got a rubbish directory naming convention.

We had already seen a few months back the mib2 high only release of 370 in the Audi form curtesy of Russians boards and mibsolution.one. This file appears to be identical to that one except it has some additional checksums in it. The ones with the additional checksums are by country. I only checked the UK on these which demonstrated the early release of 370 was the same as this 370 for the UK once you ignored the additional checksums. VW must use a different way of manufacturing these files from the source materiel with more checksums or they changed their processes if it all comes from the same place.

The main thing is not to get excited by the drop in file size. It's fine it's for mib2 highs only. Columbus, Seat Plus and Discover Pro and those Audi mib2 highs. Present all files as you have always done.

You can use a Mac but you must use CleanMydrive to remove the Mac file garbage off the drive once copied before putting it in the unit else it will fail the integrity signature check.

To confirm the above link (the mega.nz one) does not support MIB1 Columbus?

My MIB1 columbus + canton is MY2015, I last updated the maps in 2018 via a link on his forum.

Will I need to go back to the previous map update 2024 or have I read it wrong and this latest update can be used for MIB1?

If I can use this latest posts links, which link do I use, the Mega.nz or the ones listed under VW portal?

I've read previous years updates but things get way to technical with file types and all sorts and I put it off until next year!

Thanks

Steve

Currently you need to go back to the 350 release if you want a mib1 high compatible release. Eg. The November 2023 release. Audi always released these files split into two forms whilst the rest of the Vag group released as a combined file.

Mib solutions site goes up and down so I can't check whether they have layed their hands on a mib1 370 only version, what they had earlier posted was the 370 mib2 high version the same as the one Russian sites had in February. That early version atleast for the UK didn't change as far as the data was concerned from the VW mib2 high only one. If you had a Mib2 high you could have happily used that as I did.

It's possible the 370 mib1 high only one is leaked out from Russian sites that find this stuff but failing that you will have to make do with the 350 only combined release. The Audi site behind a Audi VIN paywall may hold a mib1 high version for 370 or they may have just dropped production. That may be the case given VW are only releasing the file in 370 mib2 high version.

Where you hit Google looking for mib1 high 370. Failing that MartiniBs back post providing the 350 link I suspect will still index into a version.

Thanks @Tell and by reading I can download the vw or Audi links (posted by martinib), from previous posts appear they will work on skoda units..

The 350 will if it's still live. On the tablet so can't check. Any of the files with 350 on them whatever the brand for Europe, they are all interchangeable between brands. All the same file.

🫣 Must have missed the posting dates or I didn't press refresh. A lot on trying to update to pesky 24h2. One machine is being difficult of the three.

I'd been looking for 390.

So, stupid question. Why has the update file shrunk from 29gb'ish to 14?

I keep answering this one on Briskoda and SeatCupra.

<=350 supports mib1 + mib2 in one release

>350 supports only mib2. Mib1 release dropped

The directories don't bear much resemblance to the names. Basically when mib2 high came out the mib2 high only stuff was put in the mib2 directory but it also uses what's in the mib1 directory for the overlap. Hence why the mib1 file has still got stuff in it.

Audi always apparently released mib2 high like this. From 370 on Skoda and VW switched to this type of mib2 high only release. Mib1 high has bit the dust for now.

Ahhhh… makes complete sense. Many thanks @Tell👍🏻 I’ve no doubt MIB2 will be dropped in a couple of years too.

It seems that 390 on the Skoda Update portal is corrupt. All of the below files fail to unzip.

Finland_Basic.psf

navigation_styles_BY_EU.iso

Belguim.iso

France.iso

Germany.iso

Italy.iso

Poland.iso

Portugal.iso

Russia.iso

Sweden.iso

Turkey.iso

catergories_bg_bg.tsf

catergories_cs_cz.tsf

catergories_es_es.tsf

catergories_pt_pt.tsf

catergories_ro_ro.tsf

catergories_sk_sk.tsf

catergories_tr_tr.tsf

I've downloaded twice, and both zips are bad. I suppose copying the missing files from my 350 install is a no-no?

It's happened before on other releases. Use the VW links.

Just found it, thanks.

Under resourcing on the other VAG brands means a pecking order of quality. Audi, VW, Skoda and Seat. Not sure where Bentley fits into that. They use curious zipping programmes that don't get it right at times. For the user best to use 7zip VAG recommended staple although the built in tools of Windows 11 can now open these files. Where MartiniB publishes a range of files from the brands, you try the next one down if it doesn't open. These files are on the brands file servers. You can read that off. The 39* files are the November release. 37* the June release for mib2 high. For maps the release is interchangeable between brands on the relative infotainment version.

I have always used Peazip to download these maps for my Karoq and have never had a problem.

People have their favourites but 7zip is the official one. Basically Skoda often messes up the zip process so whatever unzipping tool you use it won't unzip a zip file which is corrupted.

Then there is the debates of whether you should zip directly to SD or USB or to HD/SSD. The problem with the former it depends how fast your bus is to the peripherals as many checks are made during this process. A straight write to the peripheral is faster than unzipping to it, but ofcource if you have fast hardware you might not notice the thrashing that's going on to the peripheral.
