Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanSince we didn't clarify what was the ''BTB'' that @Thefeliciahacker use... But you had that problems few years ago. So what's next? We must change the radiator switch to 85-90 'C? If i remember correct the factory in mine was 87-92 'C.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanI don't think that anyone has an 80 'C thermostat, those for Felicia in the market are 87-88 'C. An example: https://kritosparts.gr/SKODA-FELICIA-II-(6U1)-01-98-06-01-1.3-AMH-(68hp)-01-98-06-01/Thermostatis

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanCity Traffic: The temperature rises, the thermostat open for 1st time and the needle drops to the Yellow dot. The driving continues, the needle rising, stays for long time in the white factory line and in Summer after some time reaches the Blue dot and the fan start spinning for a while. The meddle drops and if i stay in traffic for long time then again the above. From a recent trip, Highway at noon. The latest months only one (1) time i saw the needle to reach the Green dot, was in a Mountain Route in the top of the uphill with thinner air but after a while dropped. Was 2023 (old radiator and G11) when after a trip involved in a hard City Traffic and in a red light i saw the needle reaching that green dot but after the radiator fan stopped return to normal. I have seen the needle in the 100 'C but that was 5 years ago with lot of problems back then, since that time never again.

Fuel smell in cabin felicia pickup
D.FYLAKTOS replied to sparticus-84's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanIt's extremely difficult (almost impossible) to be the canister the culprit for the smell. I had a similar problem in the past, check the fuel lines and wash the cabin filter, also clean the airways (dashboard) with spray. The analog fuel gauge isn't 100% reliable, changes it's indication in uphill-downhill. I don't know about the fuel pump much things but for sure has a locking point,it's steady.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda Forman5 years before i posted about this with phtos and somewhere i have posted a video too. The gause on the cluster was showing false indications due to detritus on the lower part of the coolant sensor, i also have posted a depiction of this somewhere in the forum. I found it by personal search.

Fuel smell in cabin felicia pickup
D.FYLAKTOS replied to sparticus-84's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanA) The first are behind the regulator pressure,i show them to you few days ago, easy access inside the engine bay.The others are metallic and beneath the car, you can't see them from above, you need a lift jack. B)The charcoal canister, also known as a vapor or evaporative emissions (EVAP) canister, is a crucial part of a vehicle's emissions control system, particularly in gasoline-powered cars. In Skoda Felicias, it's designed to capture and store fuel vapors that evaporate from the fuel tank. These vapors are then purged back into the engine and burned when the engine is running and the purge valve is activated. Functions. Captures fuel vapors: The canister is filled with activated charcoal, which absorbs and traps fuel vapors. Reduces emissions: By preventing these vapors from escaping into the atmosphere, the charcoal canister helps reduce harmful emissions and pollution. Improves fuel efficiency: The captured vapors are eventually burned in the engine, which can contribute to slightly better fuel economy. Prevents fuel tank pressure build-up: The canister also helps regulate pressure in the fuel tank, preventing it from becoming too high or low. Here it is in Felicia, check all the connections.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanTomorrow i will post mine, are different than yours. I can have some measure for the coolant temperature but after the expansion tank, before the thermostat the experiment failed (i have posted photos in the past). Also i can have from the engine bay plus in the ''air cabinet'' filter area.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanBack to shcool,i left the desk in the middle of the 80's but now we have Google search. .................................. In coolant systems, ΔT (delta T) represents the temperature difference between two points, typically the inlet and outlet temperatures of the coolant. It's a crucial measurement for assessing the efficiency of heat transfer within the cooling system. Temperature Difference: ΔT is calculated by subtracting the lower temperature from the higher temperature. Cooling System Efficiency: In a car's cooling system, a larger ΔT might indicate that the radiator is effectively removing heat from the engine coolant. Conversely, a smaller ΔT could suggest a problem with the radiator or other components, preventing proper heat dissipation. Monitoring and Diagnostics: ΔT is a key indicator used in diagnostics to identify issues like a faulty thermostat, a clogged radiator, or other cooling system problems.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanWhy there is a benefit for an old design engine to work in such a higher temperatures? 20 years back the French cars had the reputation that must do this to perform properly, i don't know if that was true or a rumour.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanYes we know it,we read often news from US-UK about cars, laws etc that cameras with AI can take picture of a driver which uses phone while driving. https://www.gov.uk/using-mobile-phones-when-driving-the-law The Traffic Police here shows ''tolerance'' in many cases and that's not good in many cases. Cameras in traffic light started installing here but not in Highways, this will take many years because for many laws there is reaction from "Lefties" so there is a lot of bureaucracy and delay. The outrageous is that in case of a road accident (them or friend of them involved) the same persons start scream hysterically: "where are the cameras? the Police must check them, is there any material from cameras? why there is no camera in that road intersection?" etc. 🤬 I had a 90-95 'C radiator switch and a yellow ring thermostat sensor, the car was working much higher than before around 100 'C and this terrified me. Skoda Kantzos https://www.autotriti.gr/autoaccessories/jpg/news/1600/KANTZOS_1600x900ds.jpg mechanic (and ex-Felicia owner) told me to never do this again because i will have head gasket problems and try to reduce the temperature with a different radiator switch and thermostat sensor.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanSorry but i can't understand. 1st and second speed? You mean your radiator fan speed? 95-97 and 101-103 you mean Celsius? Your Felicia coolant temperatures get so hi? My radiator switch is 80-85 'C, why should i go one scale higher to 85-90 or more? By the way with the G13 what you fuel consumption while travelling in Highway? In your city there is not much traffic but what's the fuel consumption inside of it?

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanYou are right, that's why i haven't take a picture while i was in the Mountain Roots, from now on i will take when i stop for an intermission or i arrive in the destination. I don't use a phone while i am driving in a trip, no matter if i rings as a call or sms i leave it in my jacket's pocket, i leave my wife to act as a "secretary" if someone from the family is trying to contact with me (will phone to her because i don't pick it up). 😉 As for the fuel consumption in Summer in City i don't think i will have opportunities to take some measures, with the gas prices getting higher i use a small motorcycle to work and back home. A Summer test (in traffic) using a/c too would be helpful but together with the problem finding a parking place every night a 100km test in City this would be a torture. By the way i have another trip to do in few days for my Summer vacations, when i return i will bring some informations with me.

Cooling system problem (AGAIN) in my Felicia
D.FYLAKTOS replied to D.FYLAKTOS's topic in Skoda Favorit, Skoda Felicia, Skoda Fun and Skoda FormanThe Mountain Root of that trip has an Λ shape (if i can characterise it like this) which means begins with turns in an uphill and after you reach the highest point it's a downhill. The first part puts more stress in the engine and the second in the brakes. In the top of the mountain for an instance i see the temperature to rise one click above the 90'C so it must be 92-93 'C, maybe the air is thinner to that spot but soon returns to normal. 95297 Km and i had 21 litres which means from the 94976 Km i have travelled 321 Km distance (according to the Trip meter is 321,1) the Total fuel consumption was 6,54 ltr/km or 43.19 British MPG. The % function of the TC-6 agrees with this number, shows 6.5 % litres. The last 16 kilometres were in traffic under hot sun (keep in mind in car were 2 persons with luggages) and this ruined a bit the Fuel Consumption but i had no time to take a picture right before the traffic started because my wife was grouching "this is dangerous, don't let the steering wheel" etc. 😆 I have broke all my previous records, i don't think i can get lower than where i am now.
