  1. Lets' hope that i will never see again such a dirty expansion tank. Now i have new with G12 which everybody says about it ''Oh, you put G12; the VW one" because in their mind the G12 is interwoven with the VW group. As for the road test will take some days, we have high temperatures here and it's very difficult to drive in City without a/c (i want to make comparison with the G11 in same situations so no a/c).
  2. Here are some photos from previous expansion tank, the last with G11. As you can see still there is some muck inside, not as the first one but exists. I see no glitters by the way. The arrow shows the exit of the tank from there via hose goes to the bottom of the radiator. As you can see there is no muck stuck in there.
  3. As i said i had no options, the car was inside the repair shop, gearshift seal and expansion tank was ready to pick them up from another parts shop. In few hours yesterday afternoon i had to find gear oil GL-4 so there would be no 2nd visit to the repair shop, now was the chance were the car was lifted for the coolant change. I searched in 2-3 shops in the area via their website and the best option was this Castrol or the previous Motul. I had to decide and buy in 3 hours, i ordered via phone and left my job to go there, buy and return fast as i could.
  4. Castrol Transmax 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil, covers the API GL-4 specification. I didn't has time yesterday, i had to buy new gear oil because the car was already inside the repair shop. No time for extended search, wait for shipping etc. This gear oil is Synthetic, the previous Motul that i had was Semi synthetic.
  5. Tomorrow i will have in my hands the old expansion tank (install a new one) and i will post photos of any remains. Let's hope that in the new one i wouldn't see anything and the whole system will be clean after 2 flushes.
  6. The car is in the repair shop, HEPU G12 (P999) in 40% percentage will installed with distilled water.
  7. Yes, as you told me, looks like this one: https://www.skoda-parts.com/data/items/224/59c4dff3aa546_xl.jpg I also ordered new gear oil as @nta16 gave me the idea.
  8. OBD 11 works with smartphone, no need for laptop. But it's very expensive, keep in mind we have OBD I an old type port, not an OBD II which has many and much cheaper options.
  9. Skoda says gear oil change after 60.000 km, i have done about 25-30.000 km. I have ordered that rubber bushing, tomorrow morning i will get it to the repair shop.
  10. 5-6 years ago. The cost of that bushing is 1.5 € only but the mechanic will charge me a lot for the disassembly-assembly work.
  11. No need for big bold letters, no one is impressed that way. Same route, same speed and you have 7.7ltr ? NO and you know it. I have saved the photos from the deleted thread (because of the Other guy fault), i will bring that topic back in a slightly different way. That was a main rule back in ancient Greece, strictly those were separated.
  12. Gentlemen, i have a gearbox leak, it's from the round gasket in the axis? The part code for that gasket is 002301227A or 959022407 ? Examples: https://kritosparts.gr/Code/959022407 and https://kritosparts.gr/Code/002301227A Worth to install a VIKA or must i search for another brand? Do i need a gearbox oil change after removing this or the mechanic will collect everything will come out and throw it back?
  13. Luckily i found the picture that i took before the test, from the 47.3 Km went to 50.5 Km plus some gas spend in extended idle for the coolant flush-add distilled water plus additive. So from that point i went to 91.9 Km and spend 3 ltr gasoline (from 5.8 ltr to 8.8 ltr) for a 41.4 Km distance test (include City traffic) so the Fuel Consumption was: 7.24 ltr/ 100 Km or 39.02 British MPG. Who's laughing now? Me, because as we say here in GR "I am laughing last".
  14. I haven't use the words ''bonnet" and ''boot" (in speaking or writing) in my whole life so it's difficult to do it now, we also don't use words as ''Awe, Splendid, Rubbish, B@llocks, Preposterous, Terrific etc" no matter if we know them by TV series of 19th-20th era style. Although i do with words as ''I'm gonna" or ''I wanna", keep in mind that here in GR we don't ''love'' the Yankees. I just remember that i took some photos before i start that test so i can calculate precisely the Fuel Consumption for that 41 test distance. Tomorrow i will post the results and make @Thefeliciahacker feel uncomfortable (AGAIN). 😁
  15. Felicia has VDO (German) gauges but i never trusted 100% because takes commands from the coolant sensor, in the past the needle was going up-down from the 90 'C line and made me crazy till i find the reason. Some detritus in the bottom of that sensor, wipe is and voila, the needle move return to normal. HEPU G12 (P999) is in my hands now, i have work to do the next days.
  16. I am working mainly in 98 RON those days, in purpose for test. Not from any brand or gas station but from a specific (i know it for 30 years) BP which belongs to a network and it's Corporate, not Private (which can change brand after few years). BP Super Unleaded from that gas station has been tested in City traffic-Highway-Mountain roads, more on this in a future topic because i haven't finished all the tests yet, i had to make a summer trip and there is another test that i want to do in winter but i am very optimistic. I have worked with other brands in 95 and with Shell (98 and 100) but i never get the same results. I have succeed 5.4 ltr/100 Km or 52.31 Uk MPG but in Highway, my car is heavier than the stock (noise insulation plus 2 bags with all the necessary stuff permanently in the trunk)
  17. I post in other topic that i drove 41 Km distance, City traffic, about 20 Km Highway, 2 Km Mountain Roads and the rest City traffic till i come home. This wasn't for Fuel Consumption but for the Radiator flush circulation but i grab the chance to measure it. Total (Σ symbol) 8.8 ltr gasoline for 91.9 Km which means 9.57 ltr/100 Km or 29.52 Uk MPG I can't wait to see the results with the new coolant (G12) after the system has been cleaned with the radiator Flush, due to the high summer temperatures here another test for 30-40 Km distance would be difficult but for sure i will see the difference in the summer trip in few weeks. It's obvious that the work inside the air filter box worth it, the results after 200 Km distance tests in various conditions are excellent and i blame myself because i didn't have done this all these years.
  18. Another test is finished this afternoon, i did it in purpose because i wanted to circulate the Radiator Flush in the whole system, for few minutes i opened the heat although the external temperature was high. I drove 41 Km distance, City traffic, about 20 Km Highway, 2 Km Mountain Roads and the rest City traffic till i come home. I ''own'' a photo to @nta16 for the coolant temperature, what the cluster gauge shows (before thermostat) and what the aftermarket gauge shows (between the radiator and the expansion tank). There is a 4 'C difference in indications.
  19. HEPU G12, i see no problem with 40% percentage. -25 'C in GR is a ''never going to happen'' especially in an island.
  20. I have post it many times, the ABS + airbag were sold as ''package'' back in 2000 and the cost was 700 euro if i remember correct. I didn't had the money so i didn't add that ''package'' in my order list. What's the problem with 40% percentage?
  21. Yes and i do this in purpose because i am Bad and i like it. Motul says 33% and i had 25% for some years, now i will go till 40% but unfortunately the Winter is gone together with his cold starts. Let's see how that percentage works in hot Summer days here. @Breezy_Pete No problem from me, some times that's the GR way on forum conversation.
  22. Here is the ''Ultimate'' Miata Cold air intake From round goes to this squeezed shape and then back to round, in the video say about Bernouli etc. I wonder if that worth the $395.00 USD and what kind of improvement offers. See? That's an engineer's idea, no work inside the air filter box as the amateurs do, ha ha...
  23. I have no ABS and airbag edition, the factory steering wheel is for granny driving style. The HEPU G12 arrived today.
  24. I asked one of the most famous drivers here in GR, he had racing with every Skoda model and had a full modified Felicia for road use. He convinced me about the use of G12 and since i had G11 for 24 years i think it's time for a change and test. I will raise the antifreeze concentration to about 30 or maximun 40% (i don't nedd a 50%, GR is not Siberia).
