Aircon service - how often, if ever?
No, None! Bought it when it was a couple of years old ( doubt any aircon service done before I bought it ) and have had it ever since .. replaced the rear springs some years ago as one of them had broken... Problem now is wires going to drivers door.....well, that 'n I'm old & its old ( all strictly O/T as its not a Yeti )

Variable boot floor is no more - now called "slide-out bathtub"??
Thats a good question. And as an aside......does this need to be coded into the car ( no earthly reason why it would other than to relieve the customer of a few more Euros ) FWIW I read somewhere that on the MK4 ( unlike the MKs 1, 2 & 3 ) the rear passenger seat base is fixed and so cannot be removed or hinged forward.

@Chelon is what you are looking for shown on page 14 of the cat from SurreyJohn and described as "Universal fixing elements 6V0 061 104" ? ( could be anything - its such a vague name ! )

Sounds like its similar to a 1990's Astra estate ☹️ I'm starting to see VAG's future ( as a subsidiary of Stellantis )

Variable boot floor is no more - now called "slide-out bathtub"??
I'd see it similar. I've a (now very tatty) ex UK Elegance Octy 1 Est. Came with this option (the ambiente didnt*) Makes the boot even & level with the rear seat back when its let down. On mine the 'floor' can be removed however there are a couple of support pieces (one each side) that provide some support for the removable floor. These are attached to the car body rather than the floor piece. Wonder what they do on the MK4 ? * that car came with a stack of bits & pieces that the ambiente didnt have (sunroof, wid(er) tyres, decent aircon - havnt need a regas to this day ) & tow bar

yup, VBF Would be totally dumbstruck if Skoda have decided to discontinue same. ( would guess you could buy one as an add on. Maybe try an N.I. Skoda dealer as a 'spare part' ) What sort of Octy Combi are you trying to get ? IIRC Corolla Touring Sports Hybrid start @ circa €35k Suzuki were pushing a rebadged version for a bit less ... dont know if there are any Suzukis left

Another lazy RoI dealer ? Multi month leadtime on one with a proper floor ? How would the Corolla estate suit you ?

Man-Made Climate Change: The Need for Immediate Action
I suppose everyone in my country could forego heating and transport to provide a small offset towards what is going on on the border between Russia 'n Ukraine ( Better ask Mac first tho )

Any way of disabling this auto braking?
The manuals mostly are not printed these days. The punter is expected to navigate off into the bowels of a Skoda website and try to find same. Not only that but doing the same thing a month later may very well produce a different "version" of the manual.

Car Park Fires, Transporters / Ships, any fires, any EV,s involved or not thread, were they the cause just there and so made fighting the fire harder.

New clutch time...
O/T as I've a Octy 1 estate TD. North of 250k on it. Still on original clutch. VAG have really trashed their old reputation 😞 P.S. +1 for Daltons.ie

ULEZ and other similar schemes we are being told are all about clean air for everybody but are they really just a means of making money from motorists?
At a guess, heating using turf / coal accounts for some of the high-ish figures in small Irish inland towns ( wonder what the map would look like on a good summers day ? ) Any-road-and-up......looks to me like the figures on the map have little to nothing to do with vehicle pollution.....look at the very rural far south west....

Am I right in thinking that the figures on GB's maps are for 'whats in the air' ( motor vehicles contribute but not sole source by any means ) ? e.g. in some of the far east buring of fields after harvest is common ( and creates a lot of 'smoke' for many weeks )

the truth about electric cars
Back then deaths associated with child birth were orders of magnitude higher than they are now ( or even were in the 1960s ) . In addition to deaths directly associated with birth ( both mother and child ) there were many ( at the time frequently fatal ) diseases that the child could pickup ( generally in the first few years of life ) In the West most of these diseases where controlable by the '60s ( the last one that I recall being polio ) but are still a problem in some parts of the world 😞 Just to add, I dont believe that electric cars were at all common in those days. Even if they had been, I doubt that the death stats surrounding birth back then would be significantly different to what they were ( what an obvious attempt to bring electric cars into a post )
