Travel Assist
Why? Do you turn lane assist off as well? TA is simply ACC + Lane Assist that remain active at lower speeds than they otherwise would (ie. down to 0 mph to follow traffic in start/stop traffic). It doesn’t do anything that the two systems do by themselves in free flowing traffic. I always activate it whenever I put the cruise control on… in fact, I quite often just press the TA button on the steering wheel when I get to the speed I want rather than going anywhere near the cruise control stalk.

Travel Assist
Assuming it's the same as the Mk1, no. You can enable it at any time the cruise control is active.

Auto emergency stop for no reason?
Yes. You drive according to the capabilities of your vehicle and the conditions. One factor is braking performance, but that is only one of many.

Auto emergency stop for no reason?
If he physically couldn’t stop, then he’s too close. Simples.

Kodiaq RS reveal
It's a 7-seat Golf GTi (or Octavia, if you want to keep it in the family) with a boot large enough for a dog crate /and/ the shopping at the same time. What's not to like? But as I've said before (and no doubt will say again), just don't expect it to be a sports car. It's a fantastic long-distance GT, and when it's just you, it can be a bit of fun. But it's still a large 7-seat SUV, so you're never going to chuck it around quite like you might a Golf GTi. And the gearbox is just mind-bogglingly frustrating when left to its own devices... never in the right gear at the right time to make real rapid progress, even in sport mode. Manual changes via the paddles are slightly better, but it's still not brilliant. It's a nice to have, and I'm seriously considering keeping it long-term rather than changing it next year (more down to not wanting a Mk2 and not seeing anything else out there for sensible money that I'd want to replace it with). But having had a 150bhp Kodiaq before the vRS that quite happily spent a couple of weeks touring France (including up and down the Pyrenees), I honestly wouldn't say the extra power is a must-have in order to make the car usable. Bear in mind I have a Mk1 facelift, not a Mk2... no idea if they will have changed the gearbox mapping in the Mk2 or not, but the engine is the same (albeit there will be slightly more power in a slightly bigger/heavier car).

Roundabout icon on Dash computer
There's something just not quite right about the VAG software and displaying directions from CarPlay / Android Auto. My issue is with CarPlay / Apple Maps, and the direction arrow pointing to the right when approaching a motorway junction that it want me to come off at (when the slip road is, as usual for this country, to the left) - the arrow is correct on the CarPlay / Apple Maps screen, but it's wrong on the dash. No idea what it is, but there are several oddities like this unfortunately. There's also plenty else wrong with the software, so if that's the only thing annoying you, you're doing well 😉. ps. Yes, drive mode resets every time, it's annoying, but you learn to live with it. Top tip for the aircare setting - you really don't need it on outside of hay fever season, and if you don't suffer from hay fever, then you probably don't need it at all. It's just extra filtration, but it does have an impact on mpg (not much, but noticeable on longer journeys).

Apple Car Play Columbus update
I'm not sure paying £200 to the dealer will help either... wireless CarPlay is only available on the facelift models with the MIB3 units.

Kodiaq RS reveal
I’d be more concerned about the DCC issues with the Mk2 than the 20” wheels. I have no complaints whatsoever about ride quality. And as for blue going with red… goes perfectly well if you ask me, otherwise there wouldn’t be a race blue vRS on my drive 😂.

Trained Parking
You evidently haven't got a new-build house with a single garage... so narrow it's either having the ability for the car to put itself in there, or getting out the boot. But - at least the single garages are long enough (they're longer so you can store bikes at the back of them, apparently). My Kodiaq will fit in to my double garage with about an inch or so to spare front and back. Not sure a Mk2 would fit at all, it being longer. And people complain about cars parked everywhere and no-one using their garages... it's probably because their cars won't fit in them (with room to then get out of it)! Sorry, rant over. Totally agree we shouldn't need trained parking in an ideal world, but they've got to keep 'innovating' to encourage us to keep buying new cars.

Trained Parking
You're making the assumption that loads of people are driving around in Mk2 Kodiaqs with trained parking, and use this forum. Personally, I've seen 1 Kodiaq Mk2 outside of a dealer... and it was while I was in Dublin. From the threads on here, I'd suggest that probably isn't the case - and for most of those who have ordered one, they haven't actually received it yet, trained parking or not.

Kodiaq RS reveal
So they release pricing for unannounced models / variants? That seems a little... strange. In any case, certainly doesn't happen over here in the UK - all we've had so far is stuff like this from Autocar: "Deliveries will begin next April. Skoda has yet to announce pricing but it is expected to start at around £50,000."

2024 Kodiaq DCC issue
Like all these things - sounds good on paper... but then you find 'sport' is too harsh and 'comfort' is too soft and so you just leave it in 'normal'. Might be a bit different and useful in a proper sports car, but in a big family SUV I'm really not convinced it's worth it. Certainly wouldn't pay for it as an option.

5 seater vs 7 seater
The Mk1 only had 5 seats available at the beginning in the lowest trim. It's been 7 seats only for many years in the UK until the Mk2 came out - and other than the fact the iV is 5 seat only because of the battery, I'm convinced the only reason Skoda UK are now offering 5 seat versions across the board is because they realise how expensive the Kodiaq is now and want models at those slightly lower price points. Let's just remember that, at launch in 2017, you could get a 5 seat SE for £21k. Edit: Apologies, it was a Kodiaq S... an even lower trim level that hasn't been seen for a very long time.

Kodiaq RS reveal
Meh. Not feeling the love, if I'm honest. And with the issues a lot of people seem to be having with their Mk2s, I think it's a hard pass for now. It'll probably be an even harder pass when they announce the pricing for it...

5 seater vs 7 seater
I guess it all depends on how long you intend on keeping the car for… if it’s for long enough the kids will be out of child seats, then maybe short term pain for long term flexibility? Even with my kids now 18 and 16, it’s still useful having 7 seats - they’re usable for short journeys but anyone over about 5ft wouldn’t want to go any sort of long distance. Also, has been useful in the past to have 2+1+1 when visiting IKEA 😂. As for saving money… it might be slightly cheaper to buy a 5 seat version, but I do wonder if they will hold their value as well because if you only want 5 seats, why not go for a Karoq? The exception is the iV as that’s 5 seats only…

Just placed an order for one
I’m not advocating for either side of this argument discussion, but I’d suggest your statement should be “without visible fault”. It may be that it doesn’t have any faults that you know of and there are faults you’re just not aware of, making both points of view expressed here ‘correct’. See also: Schrodinger’s cat.

MK2 Bugs and annoyances
The sensitivity was adjustable on the Mk1... assume it is on the Mk2 as well? Had to turn it down on my first Kodiaq (original model) because of too many false positives, but I don't think I had the same problems with my current one (facelift model) - I certainly don't remember changing the sensitivity but I might have done it automatically when I first got it.

Options on UK website
Far from it, I'm afraid. It might be the highest trim available right now, but the L&K will be along soon to be 'top of the range'. And on the sporty side, the vRS will be 'top of the range' over the Sportline.

Kodiaq RS mpg?
To quote from your original post... If you limit yourself to no more than 3 years old, then your only option is a TSI. No different in the UK - I think the TSI version sold a lot better than the TDI... I've certainly seen more of them around.

Tyres "du jour"
Yes… think all facelift cars came with a spare. Certainly didn’t pay extra for it. First bear only had the gunk and inflator kit.
-
Routing rear dashcam cable V2
Yeah, that looks about how I did mine in my first Kodiaq (although I did it down the passenger side and into the fuse box).

Tyres "du jour"
Yogi is on the ramp having his changed as I type this. Same story, Seal Inside tyres fitted, garage checked with me that I realised this, although their opinion was slightly different - they don’t rate their usefulness so didn’t challenge my choice of normal CS5s as replacements.

Kodiaq 2023 heated steering wheel retrofit
No. Mk 1.5 if anything. Mk 2 is the all new model unveiled last year and open to order from earlier this year.

Kodiaq RS mpg?
55 litres, I think. Somewhere around there anyway. Definitely more than 50, but I don't think I've got more than 55 in there even when running on fumes.
